Which raises another question: Where exactly is the anti-war movement?

Have you see a single “No Blood for Oil” sign in Cambridge?

To paraphrase the John Kerry of 2004: “Can I get me a candlelight vigil here?”

Whatever happened to Cindy Sheehan? Where is Code Pink? I haven’t seen an “EndLESS War” bumper sticker in years, since 2009 to be exact.

could it be that the anti-war movement is just another partisan creation of the Democratic party?

Hmm...you didn't see the memo. You can only protest war when a Republican is in office.
You just tried to derail a thread where I protested involvement this morning. Try some adderal. Here it works wonders with ADD Torch.
I don't think the public wants to go to war any more or less this time than in Operation Iraqi Freedom, it's just that the media hasn't made a big stink about how it would be an unjust war. The vast majority of protesters these days just do it because it is trendy and cool to speak out against them man. When it's not trendy and cool, only people who actually care protest....and judging by how few people seem to really be protesting, it isn't many.
Perhaps an openly gay military makes it all OK?

Until one dies, then they will say the straight soldier is homophonic and say he killed the gay guy.

Good point. When the openly gay guy dies, it will be the fault of his platoon, they didn't cover him, they didn't get him medical treatment in time, etc.

Look at how Tom in Lazybrook laments Matthew Shepherd, even as it's now known his killer was also his gay partner.
Stacking naked prisoners in a human pyramid has not only
become copacetic, it’s an effective recruiting incentive.
Not really sure there are grounds to criticize Code Pink. At least not for partisan hypocrisy.

Quote:CODEPINK activists will gather at the White House to protest during the President’s speech in which he will outline a proposed 3-year US military involvement in Iraq. They will hold large banners and there will be an Obama impersonator in a large bobblehead and costume.

Activists are staunchly opposed to renewed US military intervention in the region. They maintain that ISIS gained strength because the American-backed sectarian Iraqi government alienated the Sunni population of Iraq. Further involvement would be counterproductive and result in the loss of even more lives.

I'm against war and I would disagree with combat troops.

If we're going to fire one single shot then I want all the force necessary, and then some, to back it up. Overkill wouldn't exist in my vocabulary.
Congress looks like they are going to chicken out.

lol. So "advisors" in your line of thinking are more expendable? Are their lives less precious? Boots on the ground... helmets in the air... loafers in an arm chair, are they not all the same? You whiny leftists crack me up, except it ain' funny.

You'd send the life of a pilot or "advisor" to die, but so long as he's not wearing "boots" who gives a rip. Or shall I say gives a R.I.P.

You Hypocrites, like your champion in the WH, are pathetic. Transparent, doublespeaking, and pathetic.

Let 'em die if they wear a tie. Great. Just great. Sounds like Benghazi all over again.
Just for clarification. Who is saying Let them die? Why don't we start looking at some criteria? Will our involvement help of hurt the people of Iraq? Will our involvement lead to more or less deaths of innocents? Have you ever stopped and looked st the staggering loss of lives on the Iraqi side? Innocent deaths? Then add up the cost to Americans? What was the cost of one hellfire missile? 58,000. Every one of those exploding rounds from an Apache? Some of this has to start figuring in to the calculus. Quite simply. If you are an British or American journalist how smart is it to be in the Middle Eats right now? Any place that you could be kidnapped? There is a bounty on your head. Your death is valuable in a psychological war. It's time to come stateside.

My biggest question? Why are we always in a perpetual state of war?

Id submit that only an all out war would solve this mess. What we are doing is going to be a total failure.
Generally speaking. If my death could lead to 50,000 for a stranger. I'm going to think that stranger has a profit motive to sell my death. Fck that. I'm out.

Supposedly the three American journalists held by ISIS were horse traded to them by the "moderates".
Protestors are riding around in Their Toyota Prius's with the Obama Hope and Change Bumper Stickers along with Rainbow Flags. Sissy Stuff!
I’m sure the President is evolving towards an acceptance of war equality.
