Hooray! And Trent is the first to report. Kudos Trent!
Good to hear, whether it helps for the game or not, we will wait and see. But another month for him to evaluate on the field and maybe testing guys at other positions. A jump start on spring ball. It can only help. If we didn't have a bowl all he could do is watch tape on these guys.

Sorry he can't hear you. He is on the phone with our recruits.

it isnt a bad thing, but why is kelly coaching the game if he pretty much has no clue whats going on? i dont get it.
It sounds like MT is pulling a Bo move. No MSU coach is going to coach UC players. I like it,,,, dont let the door hit ya.....Get out... 05-deadhorse
Actually it gives Kelly the equivelent two spring practices to evaluate talent and put in his system. Not a bad deal.
Yeah, I'm not sure if having just Kelly and any new hires gives us a better chance in the bowl game but it is definitely better for the program beyond this year.
I think its good because there is little chance the team will take w.michigan lightly...The players will all be working hard to impress the new coach...
also i can't wait to see the results he can produce calling plays out of Coach Damntonio's playbook.

100% chance that Davila is the QB for this bowl team.

Davila to Stewart: Touchdown !!!

I think he should have all the players bring their playbooks to the game and burn them on the sidelines afterwards. Do a press conference afterwards that he had liberated the team and fans from a stodgy offense.

Quote:Kelly said he spent about three hours Monday night watching tape to familiarize himself with his new players.

"I'd like to have the tight end back," he said, referring to senior Brent Celek. "He would have caught 50 or 60 balls for me."

Celek caught 31 for the Bearcats this season.

Kelly will coach his new team against Western Michigan just 33 days after being introduced as UC's coach.

And although that won't be enough time to install his offense completely, Kelly said Tuesday that he might at least be able to provide a glimpse of what to expect next fall.

"We're going to use the same terminology and nomenclature (as the old regime)," Kelly said. "We've got to keep it as consistent as we can."

Kelly also said he will tweak the old offense.

"I think it's important as we build momentum for our program and I definitely want to showcase some of those things," he said. "But to win the game is more important than giving you a preview.

"I want these kids to finish with a win. They deserve it. I'm not going to tinker with being creative just to be creative."
Rath, your "rock" smiley was missing a colon. I got it for you.

Since the opponent is Western Michigan, it should help in the bowl game too.
It's interesting in that Kelly at this point knows more about the opponent (since Central Michigan played them) than his own new team since he has just started as coach.

I like how he is taking care of the old team. He does have an edge in the PR department over Dantonio at this point.

An I admit I had a bias against Dantonio from the beginning. I have a bad taste about anyone affiliated with OSU since they have done more damage than good to this university as of late.
