We need to quit playing that song through the stadium P.A. system. That's bush league stuff. If fans want to do it spontaneously (which would still be bush league), that's one thing, but playing it through the stadium system shows pre-planning by people in charge. We should be better than that.
I'd settle for the DJ not play anything at all at the end of the game when the band is playing.
The PA announcer and the DJ need to get together so as not be "on" at the same time...
Can they play something else sometimes instead of Black Belly Bama lama or whatever it's called. That song seems a little outa place with the Blazer players and most of the fans. Just sayin

"Black Betty" by Ram Jam. The origin and meaning of the lyrics are still debated, as it was a civil war march, a prison work song or somewhere in between. But in 1977 the NAACP wanted the song boycotted, because of the lyrics, obviously.
Thanks for the clarification. Why don't they let the players pick some tunes to BLAST. I think "Shook Me All Night Long"(AC/CC) and "Planet Rock"(Soul Sonic Force) would rock.

I agree!

Black Betty.

"She's from Birmingham. Ram a lam. Way down in Alabam. Rama a lam."

They should skip and ramp at this line and not at the beginning.
Yeah. It's kinda like how when a classic rock station in this town plays Steely Dan, there's about an 80% chance the song will be "Deacon Blues". "They call Alabama the Crimson Tide, call me Deacon Blues..."

It is what it is. Even if it makes me angry almost every time.
Well, we've played it for a long time in basketball season, too. So, I say keep it.
Tradition.
I don't mind it at the right times. After beating an FCS opponent by a ton is not the right time in my opinion.
Dj needs to go away......

Maybe I wasn't paying sufficient attention, but I only heard Black Betty on kickoffs. Or were you talking about "Kiss Him Goodbye" because I don't remember anything at all over A&M's band. 03-lol
The TV announcer kept marveling at how often A&M's band played over A&M's own snap counts, as well as everything else.
