Our first ever home FBS test should end with a win.
Early computer predictions have us winning by 14.3 -18 points.

EMU is not a very good team. Through two games, including Morgan State from the MEAC, it has generated almost no pass offense whatsoever.
By the same token their pass defense was the weakness vs both Morgan State and Florida.
EMU is hardly better than Hampton overall, indeed maybe not as good.

We played well enough in most respects vs NCST that I don't think a letdown is a concern So, unless BW heavily experiments, we win this one big.

EMU can't pass. EMU can't stop our pass.
If we stop their run, and we should, then EMU cannot score:
ODU 52 - EMU 10
ODU-43
EMU-18
Our defense only giving up 10? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I agree we win this one and we should win it easily, but our defense will give up 10 in the first quarter.

48-24 good guys
56-35, ODU.
Heinicke has a field day and the defense continues to improve.

ODU 45 EMU 13
I have liked the performance of the run defense in the first two games. Keep it up and we win handily. I don't think we are a great matchup for them.

48-17 good guys.
ODU 48
EMU- 25

Will be looking at how well Defense plays in 4th quarter. If they can sustain energy we could hold them to under 25.
Our defense only giving up 10, that's funny. Our defense couldn't stop a Girl Scout at a cross walk. But the Taylor show will be on, ODU-42, EMU-21.

Vegas has ODU as a -14.5 fav.
Concrete Wall Monarchs 55

I dunno. The matchups are as good as we are likely to see this year.

I think our D is better than last year.
We gave up only 14 to URI last year, and Sagarin has EMU ranked behind URI this year.

ODU "The Wall" Monarchs - 56
Eastern Michigan Eagles - 24
Game 3 ODU vs. Eastern Michigan @ SB Ballard Stadium Sat. Sept. 13 6:00 pm * TV Cox Regional

Again my perception has changed dramatically in the last few weeks. I do believe this is a winnable game for ODU and the Monarch’s CAN NOT look past this team. Last year we had a common opponent, we both played Howard – EMU won 34-24 * ODU won 76-19. Eastern Michigan is predicted to win over ODU by many preseason predictions. I believe ODU could come out of the locker room swinging and may even lead at the end of the first half by a large margin, but the game could turn, it will be close when the final whistle blows after 40 minutes.

Predicted Score * ODU 42 Eastern Michigan 38 * W

I'm not saying this to start a fight, but what has anyone seen that makes you think this defense is improved. We gave up 28 to a MEAC team and 46 to a bottom tier ACC team. I'm sorry, I have seen ZERO progress.
ODU 49, EMU 29

My thoughts on our defense:

48-32
ODU by four touchdowns. I wish I had the guts to bet because this is easy money and I'm 2-0 vs the spread so far with ODU.

This is more than a winnable game. This is a must-win.

Here's my brief write-up from the other EMU thread:

Saturday, 6 pm.

Eastern Michigan is 1-1, with a 31-28 squeaker at home over Morgan State (who is 0-2, and just lost to Holy Cross) and a 65-0 shellacking at Florida.

ODU should be able to move the ball relatively easily against EMU. Even looking past what Florida did to them, Morgan State passed for 269 yards and rushed for 210 more. There will be plenty of opportunities for Heinicke and the boys to put up points.

On the other side of the ball, EMU is a running team, rushing 90 times in 2 games. Against Morgan State they ran 56 times for 292 yards, but against the Gators they struggled a bit, with 34 carries for 80 yards. I'd look for somewhere in between those 2 extremes.

However, one thing EMU has shown no ability to do is throw the ball.

Against a subpar MEAC defense, they were 18 of 30 for 99 yards. Yes, 30 attempts, 99 yards, as 2 QBs split time, and no pass play went more than 14 yards. Against Florida, 3 QBs got time, but none of them were any good, going 9/21 for 45 yards. EMU has 144 yards passing on the season.

We are sandwiched between their Florida game and a game against Michigan State for them. They may be a little beat up, and ODU needs to take advantage early, get out to a solid lead and get some confidence in that defensive backfield as EMU flails around on offense.

This is an FBS team we should drill.
Coming off a good, but highly emotional and hype game at NC St., this could be a trap game. But being that its our first ever FBS game at home, I think Bobby should have them motivated. Hopefully the defense from last week shows up and not the one from the Hampton game.
