Nevada hosting a PAC12 team on a Friday night in their 30k stadium. This is where we need to be. They have endzone seating that's nothing fancy. The game is on ESPN. What has Nevada done that NIU hasn't done? Oh well, good for them. I guess I am just a little jealous.
Yeah...but it's Washington State. The Purdue of the PAC-12.
But there on ESPN and their stadium is just a little better than ours. I hope and think we can get there as long as Frazier and Baker are here.
Also, it would be awesome to play Purdue in DeKalb.

Have a stadium that seats 30k...kind of what I expect Huskie Stadium will be in 2018 when we host Utah.
I was hoping this thread would be dedicated to this guy (Brock Hekking):

Stadium size is irrelevant. BTW, Nevada has also hosted Cal and Texas Tech in recent years.

I guarantee there are no caveats in any of the contracts from schedulepalooza that talk about Huskie Stadium being expanded. It's not going to happen. Renovated, maybe. Significantly expanded. No chance.
Stadium size matters if you want to make money. It also matters to recruits and the perception of your program.
If they expand Huskie Stadium, think of how much they'd have to spend tarping the additional empty seats.
Then you must believe the program has maxed-out!
I believe, unfortunately, we have an apathetic, non-core fan base.
I still don't understand how it use to hold 28,000 and now we are down 24,000.

Fire code. They did remove those small bleachers or whatever, but mainly fire code.

I believe with the new buildings and set up, it makes it more difficult for people to exit safely. Therefore the fire marshall feels 24,000 is safe.

Well yes, it has. I'm not sure how you can expect more than what has happened since 2010. 46 wins in 4 years, 2 conference championships, an Orange Bowl appearance and Heisman finalist. That's about as good as it gets.

College football attendance is down across the board and that trend is not likely to change. There is no reason for a stadium expansion. Capacity MAY increase slightly depending on what renovations are done. If a new press box is built, that opens up some seats where the existing press box is. If they build up/renovate the south berm area, that could be a nice lawn seating area. The West Side needs to be gutted too. Frazier would be foolish to start a campaign to add another deck, fill in the horseshoe or add sections to the East and West stands. He's not that dumb.
The stadium needs to go over 30,000. may as well go 31k+ so we're the largest in the conference.

Adding the seats shouldn't be crazy expensive. The firs half dozen "bigger" opponents should pay us back on the investment.
The stadium absolutely should be expanded. 2 of the 3 Saturday games last year sold out with days to spare. If we had the capacity for it we could've filled a horseshoe easily.

The fan base is fairweather not small. I've said for years, NIU just needs to win its early BCS game(s) to generate the buzz and we'll see sellouts. Winning this Northwestern game today is very big for attendance this year.

This game is a huge opportunity for NIU and a win will help future attendence this year and in coming years. This program is on the brink and I would love to see what our current and talented AD could do following some signature wins.

+1000 this is a huge game for the future.
Nevada has a solid program, been good for years. Have a solid city to work out of ,Reno with some $$$.
