Ever, you should have to forfeit your tickets for even typing Bobby Hollywood's name :). Do you hate us that much?

At least he has enthusiasm, albeit a little too much.

+1

This was a bright spot for me today.
Let's get a bigger sign with more hammers! Great job Maniacs!

Now I want my BIG GUN BACK!
What happened to the howitzer?

I agree with everything said here. I would like to get rid of the VA Lottery 1st down. First of all, Our state did away with lottery funds for education. Gov. Bob took that, may he rest in jail. Why not a Monarch 1st down? We have so many damn sponsors, you almost forget there is a football game going on.
Today should have been a "White Out". That dark blue in the heat, sucked.
I think the biggest reason the crowd wasn't into it was because of who our opponent was. I have to admit I even had a hard time getting excited. Should change once we get some different teams we haven't played before. Playing Hampton is almost as bad as playing Campbell.
12) Did I mention the sound system needs to be fixed immediately ? I like listing to the PA announcer because you get to hear who made what play, listen to the various things displayed on the Scoreboard, and hear the Pre-game things. This fix should not cost much at all and would help immensely.
13) I agree we need a new tradition for first downs. Forget the va. Lottery crap. Give them their money back and start our own tradition. Monarchs First down....EVERYONE roars with the lion and points in the direction of the first down.
I have been coming to the games since day 1 and am very disappointed that the scores of other games are not shown on the Scoreboard more.
14) I believe tailgating should be extended for 1 hr more with the rule that everyone MUST be in their seats 15 minutes prior to the start of the game. If not....tailgating will be shortened by 1 hr. It is horrible display from our alumni base for the the National Anthem, and pre game intro of the team to be happening with the stands half empty. Unacceptable....give people more time to socialize but require them to be in the stadium 15 minutes before game time.
15) No fly over, no ball drop, nothing special at all for the first game of the season. Whomever is responsible for game day atmosphere needs to reevaluate what they are doing.
16) Did I mention that the sound system needs to be fixed immediately.
The entire pre, during and after game environment problem in 2 words.....Debbie White.
They haven't spent a nickel on that sound system or PA announcer since day one. Not gonna happen, not before new stadium is built.
I noticed far fewer vendors on west side, not sure about east. If the howitzer is only available when the local military makes it available (maybe holiday weekend had something to do with it), then they need to find something else that can be MORE CONSISTENTLY present. That's what builds tradition!! Loved metal sign. How long before NCAA takes it away?
Finally, I'm an old, white man, and I don't care if this is PC or not, but I sit near the visitor band and dance team and cheerleaders. IMHO, the HU president should be humiliated by the over the top sexual gyrations of the dancers and cheerleaders. I alternated between embarrassed , angry, bored and incredulous at the unending hip humping, intercourse simulations and over all disgusting display. Thank God we only play one HBC a year.

During the Chowan game in 2009, I noticed that I could not hear the PA system while sitting at the top of 105. I searched for a Global Spectrum guy and had him come up to hear it. The next game, two speakers were installed on the top of the press box.

During the last game of the 2012 season, those speakers blew out. During the summer of 2013, I sent an email to ensure that the repair/replacement was made. They replied that it was working properly. The minute I got to my seat for the first game, I realized that it was NOT fixed and that listening to the squeals is damaging to the ears. I demanded that they lower the volume and they did. 2 weeks later they replaced them with new ones, but they were not permanently installed. They just used straps.
We then went back and forth a bit to get the volume right.

1. Were the speakers there and not working, or did they forget to install them?
2. Did anyone contact someone during the game? (via ODU in-game app or by walking down to get someone?

My point is to stop bitching about the speakers HERE. Mentioning that there was a problem is OK. But stop the endless bitching and do something about it.
Unacceptable for no money to be spent on the PA system. It is horrible ! Totally takes away from the game atmosphere. If Debbie White is the issue...it is time for her to go. We need big progressive thinking. I don't think we should invest a single $ into the new stadium until we have some traditions and demonstrated strong support from our fan base to take into the new stadium. It is HU...that is what they do ! The issue is they should have never been on the home side....they should be over on the visitor side.

Who do you think is responsible?
How do you know that they know there is a problem?
MAKE THE PROPER NOTIFICATION. (Hint: This is the wrong place)

Nope. You are wrong.
The speakers are there, but they are turned down way low and do not point down the stands in section 105. Also the speakers are placed way back on the press box and point out towards the field instead of being mounted so that the sound carries down the section. I have and will again contact the right folks, but I wanted to make sure others are having the same issue.

And this!!

Yep, time for her to go.
The White lot attendance seemed about normal based on last year.
Kaufman seemed sparser with fewer options for kids.
Smallish crowd at the Alumni tent

Quiet crowd and fewer vendors, at least on the west side, and a seemingly uninspired workmanlike performance by the team.
The heat, as well as the opponent may have contributed to these.

Maybe we should wait until the EMU game to assess specific (except for the PA, which HAS to be addressed now) gameday issues.
Likely there is a finite budget and it seems to me that holding back monies from the Hampton game seems prudent; both from the standpoint of it being an FCS opponent and the fact it was on a major holiday.

To the fan's credit, the stadium was full, student participation looked good, and kudos to all you people that stayed on the hot side for most or all of the game.
03-thumbsup

Bottom line, we need some spark for the EMU game. In our short history, this game is one of the more important.

When they tell you that they performed a sound check during the week from 105, tell them that either you don't believe them or that once you put people in the stadium it becomes different.
If they are placed back on the press box, then the person who approved that installation needs to be notified. Get them there during the game and point out the problem. This is not a money thing if the speakers are there and operating correctly. Let them know that they have no excuse to ruin the experience in the best section in the entire stadium.
