The long offseason wait is nearly over. It's been eight months since we watched Conference USA Football, but that will change on Friday night when a pair of schools open their 2014 seasons. Opening weekend will feature nine nationally televised games and C-USA is the only conference that will play four nationally-ranked opponents the first week of the season.
Coming off its finest season in more than a decade, North Texas opens 2014 play at No. 24 Texas (7 p.m. CDT on the Longhorn Network). Despite returning just nine starters on offense and defense combined (second fewest in the FBS), the Mean Green was chosen as the preseason favorite in the West Division. Kevin Dunn and Ahmad Brooks will be the announcing team.
