The word came down today that UNT's four Sinclaire games will air on the local Dallas 21 channel. Sinclaire doesn't own a station in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Channel 21 is an independent HD channel that every local Dallas sports fan knows. The channel airs Texas Rangers baseball games, Dallas Maverick basketball games, and pre-season Dallas Cowboys games. In previous years, the station has broadcast SEC football games on Saturdays. Looks like the new SEC network might help C-USA get more games on T.V.

This is great news for North Texas, and a great example of the kind of quality production the other C-USA programs could be getting from this Sinclair deal.
Not sure, but I bet any channel could pick up your games if they wanted.

Maybe, but of the channels most likely to air these games in Dallas, 21 was the best option. Channel 21 isn't a sub-station. It is full HD. In addition to being an OTA station, it is available on most satellite/cable subscriptions with local channels.

I suspected Channel 21 would end up being the station that airs these games in Dallas. This is a better situation than having these games air on our local CW station. Channel 21 is already known for airing football on Saturdays. The average college football fan in Dallas already expects OTA college football on that channel. It should give the Mean Green additional viewers for these games.

This sounds like great news for you guys down there, SSJ.
So basically its boiling down to local broadcasts? That sucks for anyone else wanting to see other games - ZERO exposure for the conference as a whole. I haven't heard about any station picking up other market teams yet - this is about the same type of deal that Charlotte already has as an FCS independent.

Raleigh, NC Sinclair station is airing the two games this weekend with no team near them playing in either game. Do your research please before spouting off at the mouth.

Nashville HD Channel picking up other games this weekend.

MT vs. Savannah State will not be televised (thankfully). It's our only game not on TV, of some sort, this season.

66 stations from California to the east coast have picked up the ODU game.

You misunderstand. My comments are about how the games will air in the Dallas market, where Sinclaire has no stations. Other markets in C-USA will also see these games. They will be part of a Saturday football line-up, on Sinclaire owned station, and partner stations within C-USA markets. There should be plenty on exposure within C-USA markets.

Moron really? Because I'm only reading what I see on here? Where do we see which of their stations are picking up what games? I see the 30 games to be broadcast this season, but not which stations are picking them up. I subscribed to the Sinclair Broadcasting press releases and have received zip on who is carrying what and the only thing I keep getting is all these FCS leagues that will have games carried this year.

Read this article to see what stations are picking up the ODU vs. Hampton game this weekend: http://hamptonroads.com/2014/08/odus-ope...66-markets

I have no idea if this will be the norm but this amount of coverage is looking good so far!

Virtually all of the 30 CUSA games Sinclair is broadcasting will be nationwide...but only in cities that have a Sinclair owned station.

Most cities have at least one Sinclair station though, so millions of people across the country will have access to CUSA games every week.

They'll likely be on digital sub-channels though in areas where the only Sinclair stations are ABC/Fox/CBS/NBC affiliates because those channels will already be airing nationwide P5/ND games

I'm in San Antonio & I will get to see ODU vs Hampton on Saturday. Might as well call that a national broadcast for that game. For Sinclair to pull off getting that game to air in 66 markets is amazing IMO.

And FIU likely has a similar release

Ice is one of the most informed poster on any of the boards. This guy is not a moron. He also is a need a sunshine pusher.
Some additional info on ASN is that the R.I. @ Marshall game will be picked up by CSNBA (Comcast SportsNet Bay Area). Accidentally found this by using my DirecTV search of all C-USA games over the next 2 weeks. If the game is picked up in the Bay Area of California, I would imagine more sportsnet channels will get it as well. Channel 696 on DirecTV. I'd say that the ASN folks are doing a good job in their inaugural year of getting distribution. Sorry, IceJus, all 30 games are being distributed across C-USA footprint and then some.

Maybe (and probably) this has been in the works for quite some time, but it sure did seem that it came together quite quickly (and nicely).

Give 'em a month or two, and we may even see more areas pick the games up. I just hope there aren't too many glitches.

For how many years is the Sinclair/C-USA contract ? Does this involve any hoops ? Sorry if this has been answered previously.

The contract with Sinclair is for 2 years which means all of the current media contracts will be up for renewal/renegotiation at the same time. The 2015/16 school year is the last for current contracts with Fox, CBS, ESPN (Champ FB game only) and Sinclair's ASN. Should be interesting to see what happens over the next year and a half.
