I have no pictures to post but I got a look at things at the Larimer Dedication yesterday and did get a look at the work on the new video board. The bottom half of the screen (50ft x 15ft) was in place atop Larimer and the top portion will be going up shortly. It will be awe-inspiring once it's in place and the switch is turned on. Paul Helgren told me that the installation of the new board is a six-week project that will be accomplished in two weeks, so kudos to everyone involved in this project.

The old video board is in place at the south end of the stadium, setting between the old scoreboard and, what appears to be, a new mounted speaker system. Both the scoreboard and the video board at the south end will be operational and will give those fans setting in the areas near the blockhouses the opportunity to view the replays, something that was a problem until now.

All-in-all the old stadium is taking on a new life that fans are going to love.
Their is a cool picture on the Larimer thread but I cant figure out how to get it over to this thread.
[attachment=5786]That is a good question

Holy Toledo, is that just part of the board? It looks like another section goes on top based on the height of those support poles in the back?

30' x 50', I'd say yes based on the cherry picker...
Nice! I hope it is all working great by next Saturday!
It has to be ready for the clock and down & distance, etc.
When I originally posted to this thread I said it appeared that new speakers were up at the south end of the Glass Bowl. I was wrong about that and learned today that the new speakers will be put on top of the Larimer Building. The speakers are all in the Glass Bowl, still crated, and will go up this coming week. Also, the four sections that comprise the top half of the new video board should arrive Monday or Tuesday and the board will be a go by game time next Saturday.

Maybe they're saving that side of the stadium for a future renovation...?
Renovation proponents need to make sure the Glass Bowl is FULL for the Missouri game. No excuses. There are a lot of voices in the facilities department and development department that tire of the empty seats for big games. Personally I think the next investment at the Glass Bowl should be something like the patio at Purdue

While the rooftop of Larimer may be out the parking lot on the south end of the Glass Bowl would work

That is an awesome idea! Access to better food and amenities would definitely make me donate more. The press box doesn't do it for me, I like being outside in the thick of things.

The Tampa Bay Rays opened up their version of the Patio this year where fans in the entire stadium can walk around the entire outfield section. They basically just took out some rows of seats and made it happen. There is more food and drink choices out there. Seems to be pretty full compared to the rest of the stadium.
I suspect the speakers and other parts of the video board are going in today or tomorrow as time is running short. I would think a few days for testing?

So if you had to choose. What does the crowd density on the patio compare to the rest of the stadium? An Akron game fan density on the patio, and an EMU density in the stands? Haha sorry just a joke. I don't think Because Tampa is doing it has ever been a reason for another sport to say "Hey we should do it like them! It seems to work!"

A lot of places are going to a patio area. Jacksonville Jaguars, Purdue, Tampa bay. Teams are now realizing that it's not just the game that people go for - it's the entertainment and events going on around the game. I worked for the Mud Hens and Walleye a couple years ago, and a majority of the fans (don't remember the exact %, but I wanna say somewhere around 75%) didn't care about the game itself and weren't even Mud Hens/baseball fans. They went because it was an event (not just a game) and a good time.

Perfect spot next to the game clock board. I like it!
