Rules are simple, pick your turning point where you would consider Undefeated Marshall over an X-loss AAC champ.

For example, if you vote 2 Loss AAC champ, you vote that 2 Loss would beat out Marshall, but anything worse than that, it would go to Marshall.
Undefeated Marshall gets in over any 1 loss G5 team. Only exception is if the 1 loss is to a top 5 team or to a P5 conference champion.

then vote as such, in your case, you would pick "Undefeated AAC champ"

Wait, I voted for 1 loss AAC champion because an undefeated Marshall would get in over a 1-loss AAC champion but not an undefeated AAC champion.
Got to say 2 loss. Most AAC teams have a tough OOC, plus play whoever is at the top of the conference this year.
Depends on the AAC Champ. I would take Marshall over an undefeated Memphis, Tulane, USF. Marshall over 1-loss Cincinnati, UCF, Houston.
Almost any 1 loss AAC will get in ahead of Marshall. 2 loss AAC team would have to have a good OOC win and only lose to 2 ranked teams.

You would take Marshall over a USF that would beat Maryland, NC State, Wisconsin, ECU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF?

On what grounds?
I highly doubt Marshall goes undefeated. Too many variables in C-USA it is tough to play away games in C-USA since some games there might be 5,000 people there. This can cause your team to play flat and become a easy target. When East Carolina was in C-USA we had a difficult time play at places like UAB, Tulane, FIU, and Middle Tennessee. Also they have to watch out for Old Dominion.

i second this sentiment......... 04-jawdrop
Depends on how their schedule plays out.

Any G5 who runs the table is going to have the inside track because there will be an element of the media asking what more could they have done?

Now let's take a situation like 2007. Hawaii went 12-0 with two FCS wins. Trying to backward apply CFP to the state of the time. The contenders were
WAC champ Hawaii 12-0 (10-0 vs. FBS)
CUSA champ UCF 10-3 (10-3 vs. FBS)
MAC champ Central Michigan 8-5 (8-4 vs. FBS fell to NDSU)
MWC champ BYU 10-2 (9-2 vs. FBS)
Sun Belt champ FAU 7-5 (7-5 vs. FBS)

FAU and CMU are out of the discussion right off the bat.
UCF had a 3pt home loss to then #6 Texas who finished #10. But they lost by 14 at ECU and then South Florida destroyed them by 48 and that ended their shot.
BYU dropped a 10pt decision at a mediocre UCLA and then next week fell at CUSA West winner Tulsa by 8.

I think the committee would have taken Hawaii. If BYU had pulled out one of those two losses, BYU almost certainly would have received the slot.

Except the toughest Houston OOC opponent is BYU, and the Coogs do not play ECU. Definitely 13-0 Marshall over a 11-1 Houston.

And if that 11-1 Houston lost to BYU, that means they were undefeated in the AAC and both UCF and Cincy are off the table for the Access Bowl, too.

Lots of variables; this will be a fun season.
The committee is likely going to go with any undefeated G5 team if they are the only undefeated G5 team.

The only way a one-loss team would have any chance of pushing out an undefeated G5 team is if their schedule was far more difficult and their only loss was a respectable loss to a very good team (read: at least ranked by the traditional pollsters).

A G5 team with two or more losses has no chance whatsoever if there is at least one undefeated G5 team.

One other restriction I noticed when they announced the CFP selection criteria last week: The G5 slot is only available to G5 conference champs, so an 11-1 non-champ isn't even eligible to be considered for that slot. G5 non-champs are in the same boat as BYU, they are only eligible for at-large slots.
I said, the one loss team. Honestly, if there's any element of SOS involved like they claim there is, Marshall should ONLY be considered if they're undefeated and blow out all of their opponents. I mean, their schedule is probably one of, if not THE most pathetic schedule I've ever seen. All that said, it's really tough for me to see them deny an undefeated team but I think it COULD happen in this case.

@Miami (OH), Rhode Island, Ohio, @Akron, @ODU, MTSU, @FIU, FAU, @USM, Rice, @UAB, WKU

It's pretty sad when MTSU, Ohio and Rice are your marquee games. Marshall lost to MTSU and Rice last year and nearly lost FAU. I'm not familiar with who MTSU, Rice or FAU is returning. FAU's offense probably can't get any worse, I'm sure of that.

But then Marshal will play in the CUSA CCG, right? That should be a decent opponent.

in 2010 we played a 7-5 SMU for the CCG. They finished that year 7-7. Playing someone good in the CCG isn't a guarantee.
this thread is beyond stupid.

You tell me. It would be one of Rice, UTSA, UTEP, UNT, USM and Louisiana Tech.
