Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze a young dynamic coach renowned for his recruiting and social media prowess has tagged his posts with #burntheships in reference to Cortez and the full commitment of his conquistadors. Nothing to do with being rebels near as I can to tell and thus far no outcry despite the nautical reference.
Maybe because it has some historical substance to the reference?
Two winning seasons, 2 bowl wins, 1-1 vs. their primary rival , and a win over LSU will let him say whatever right now.
There's a guy who turned it around faster than expected for sure.

Yeah, but I'll bet they don't want him to leave town now that he's turned it around.

"So what if he turned the program around. He's too brash, and puts too much hair gel on!" 03-melodramatic
Guess the jokes on me. When I saw the title to this thread I thought it would be a reflection on how PJ handled his arrival, along with some mocking of RTB.

The slogan does sort of reflect his initial attitude when he arrived. Or was it more like, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!"? I'd say a bit of both.

If he had one more good year under his belt, they would have lost him to Texas.

Plus, he's not over the top brash, he's an enjoyable, smart character that didn't come in and start throwing verbal garbage around right away, he just turned the program around, took a three win team, won six and then won a bowl. Plus he didn't complain about his predecessor.

Fascinating stuff, huh?

Sometimes its just plain difficult to relate to the commentary on this board only because its just been beaten to the point where its relevance is in the rear view... PJ is what PJ is... have we not gotten past that yet? RTB RTB RTB RTB RTB RTB.... its going to be stamped on our program until he leaves.... I personally choose to just go with it... appreciate it for what its meant to be... a slogan for change based on the ideal of pushing past boundaries and collectively working at a desired goal...

Apparently there are STILL individuals who would rather continue the barrage of "WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH A HORSE!?".... The more you bemoan it... the more ridiculous you are sounding... We all get it... IT has NOTHING to do with a bronco... or WMU or Sprau Tower... or the valley dorms... ITS NOT MEANT TO!!!!!!! Seriously.. if you can't understand that its not meant to be comparative directly to our culture... but used in an effort to compliment our culture... then you are just a lost cause...
The lost cause is the douchole who posted the original baiting thread that has no relation to our RTB bs we have to stomach. You buying in is almost as silly.

I just found it interesting that another program I follow had a nautical theme espoused by their coach and no one said boo about it is all. Just time for (some in) the WMU community to grow up and not be so offended by how college football works.

Biggest difference is, he wouldn't leave an SEC program.

What??? You're right no one has ever left an SEC program for a better job.....01-wingedeagle03-banghead03-lmfao
Eh, James Franklin just did. Technically, Spurrier and Saban too.
There are no pure destination jobs in college football anymore. Most if not all coaches would leave for the "right" opportunity.

Probably a fan of Neil Young's song Cortez the Killer.

I doubt it. Freeze is a native of Batesville, MS and as I understand it a southern man don't want Neil Young around anyhow.

But that's in sweet home Alabama not MS. :)

Yes they have. Those guys are also HIGHLY successful and sought after candidates. I'm not sure the he has elevated to that level yet or that one of those truly better jobs is going to open up.
