I've been watching it today. The sets are first rate and the ESPN coverage people have done an excellent job. What are your reactions?
Well I watched the Intro show on ESPNews to see how Tebow would do. He wasn't horrible, but you could tell he was nervous and steps on the other set members toes frequently. He also failed to demonstrate a broad vocabulary but he was quite knowledge regarding player stats.
They really brought each campus right into our homes, explaining what makes each special. A nice close up look we don't get to see much. The other sports will really benefit with SECN. I watched until about 2am. My DISH channel was not HD, so I was a bit bummed about that. Someone does need to tell Tim to stop rocking to the left and right while he is talking. lol

I don't know if you noticed Tebow's sports coat or not. Maybe it's a Florida thing but he and Palmer have yet to put on a coat tailored to their shoulders, arm length, and chest size. Both of them look like sausages squeezed into a Goodwill purchase. ESPN should be ashamed of letting those two consistently go on the tube looking like bachelor's who need a wife to dress them. Well maybe they are bachelors who need a wife to dress them, but the wardrobe and makeup people shouldn't allow them to look that way before the nation.
Paul finebaum is trash. I've always hated this guy. He is way to far into the tank for Alabama.
I would expect that ESPN would put a first class product on the air.
I don't ever expect to view the SECN, and I've never seen a B1G broadcast but I do wish the SEC well in their endeavor.

I totally agree. IMO it was a very bad miscalculation to put him and his trailer park trash call in gang on something as nice as the SECN. Everything on there so far looks first rate except.......PAAAAAUUUUL! It's bad enough when you hear him on the radio, but it's unbearable to have to watch him while he does his Bammer garbage. I think he sends the rest of the country exactly the wrong image of the SEC and its schools.

I just don't get it. Why make Paul the face of the SEC. Was Jesse Palmer really that busy. All I really ask for from these pundits, Is fair and balanced. Finebaum is neither. I just hope that ESPN realizes this soon.
I hope with the new revenue coming in from this network. That it could lead to more athletic scholarships in new sports. I would love for the SEC to really get into soccer or rugby.

Four hours a day is way too much of him... Maybe with the SECN, other sensible people will start participating in his show and make it less about the Tide and more about the SEC. 04-cheers

I agree about the length of his show. It just bugs me that he makes every excuse in the world for the tide. But doesn't have anything positive to say about other programs.
I have been enjoying the first basketball broadcasts on the new SECN thus far :)

Well, anything to showcase Kentucky basketball a little more. Ya'll have had such a rough go in recruiting lately. I just don't know how ya'll keep a program going.
Do other SEC programs do the international tours for basketball teams, or even other sports? This could be huge in preventing the summer months from becoming throwaway months. I know the NCAA limits the frequency of these trips, but there should be on average 7 men's or women's basketball teams eligible for it each year.

Haha, credit given to Coach Cal for always brainstorming ways to get the brand out there, this Bahamas trip has been a big hit. Hey, the Hawgs should be a top five team in the league at least this year, Portis is a very impressive player, and you have one of the best coaches in the league. Looking forward to see if y'all return to the Big Dance.

Yes, Ole Miss are on this same trip to the Bahamas as UK (in addition to a few other high major programs, Ohio State, UNC, Cincinnati, and I believe Pittsburgh are also on the island) - those other teams are playing much lower-level teams than those that UK played, so I assume the matchups weren't considered as sexy for TV, but as mentioned earlier, would be some more good content for the early days of the network, I would've liked to have seen the Rebels' games.

I don't think there are any restrictions on how many teams can take international tours, just that each individual program cannot do it more than once every four years.

I was hoping that we would have went last season, but I guess we didn't finish strong enough to make the dance. We've added some help at the point. Which is something we needed.

True, I think maybe Jesse and Tim are under the impression that the jackets are correctly sized to them.

Now, when I heard Finebaum was moving to ESPN, I figured that his show would emulate the rest of ESPN radio show simulcasts; few to no calls and heavy on interviews. Instead they've just put is radio show on TV with the added horror that the callers apparently tweet in their pics, thus confirming every negative stereotype about the South.

My wife reminded that Harvey Updyke had already removed all doubt across the nation of the bolded.
I was impressed with live SECN football broadcasts yesterday. I really think we were smart to hook up with ESPN, as like them or not, they do live broadcasts very well.
