This is simply a question for discussion. Why is it necessary for Louisville (read Rick Pitino) to play the University of Dayton at US Bank Arena? Why is it necessary for a Cincinnati radio station to broadcast Louisville games when we have trouble sometimes getting UC on radio? Is this simply another (read Cronin) shot across the bow at UC by taking it to us right in our backyard? Are the facilities at Louisville and Dayton being repaired?

Why is it necessary for pUKe to play a Faceless Sap at US Bank Arena on an almost annual basis? Is OSU gong to schedule some Nrth-South-West Alabama game at US Bank Arena next? Isn't this a push in the back and mud in your face?

Just questions.

Its not necessary....its because they can.
Neither team wanted to play at the other teams arena... I think this is just a 1 game deal anyway, so they decided to play right in the middle so that both fan bases can make it to the game.
It was stated in the paper it was because fans from both places could drive to the game. Don

I think it is more for recruiting purposes...

Bingo. I agree.
This is a "home" game for Dayton. Dayton will play at Louisville next year. Louisville didn't want to play at UD Arena so Dayton agreed to play it in Cincy.

UD over UL in quite a shootout! Brian Roberts was star of the game--broke the UL defense down off the dribble like a pro. Norm Plummer was strong underneath as well. UD may have quite a season--they need more depth however...
The Enquirer staff thinks that Louisville has a lot of fans in the area. the crowd tonights game was 8500 and many of those were Dayton fans. So UL is not as well liked in the Cincy area as clear channel and Enquirer thinks.
The Cincy media pisses me off for many reason and this is one of them.

Louisville is one of the most hated teams in the Cincy area. They have always been the Bearcats arch rivals. And just across the river the blue necks hate them just as much...if not more than we do! I can understand covering UK,OSU,even IU in the Cincy market. But Louisvilles fanbase is just like UC.Just about all of our fanbases come from within our metro areas and not throughout the state.

8,500... UC attendance from the official boxscores:

Howard: 7,608
TN - Martin: 7,513
Wofford: 8,785 (WaHoo we outdrew UL/UD)
CMU: 7,589

Pretty harsh that UL/UD is ourdrawing UC in 3 of 4 games so far this year...
In a way that game was like a home game for both teams since it was close to both. So that 8000 attendance was both UD and UL fans. I don't think the Central Michigans and Wofford's brought too many fans to pad the UC attendance numbers.
You gotta laugh at the outcome.

UL thought they would come in and beat the crap out of UD and get a nice showing in this market.

I am sure they are pretty unpleasantly surprised to come out here get whacked.
