Well, at the risk of being Doom and Gloom.

What has to happen for us to compete next year.

We have Davis, Wilks and Belton..I say we need DeAndre and Desmond both
There is no doubt UC needs a quality big man or 2 - that actually get to play.

Fan,
DeAndre would be a nice counter to Chracter...Desmond we need just for the height...

Follow that up in 08 when Adam is gone by bring in Orlando

I am not up on this (and have no plans of following anything that closely) but what is the situation, as it now stands, with scholarships? Question 1: Does the Hall scholarship count against UC for this year or next? Question 2: Presuming that UC does not have to say that Hall is occupying a scholarship, how many do we still have for this year, 2007, 2008 and 2009? Question 3: How does Adam's scholarship affect UC? Could whoever answers make it in small maybe two syllable words so that I, and probably many others, can easily follow along and understand? Maybe one syllable for Indiana folks.

Replace Wilks with Bishop and don't forget about Mike Williams

Chris,
Hall does not count.. and we should 5 open for next year. # are commited and two are still open.

Adam counts against this year and next...DeAndre Thomas is a PF 6'8" 270 at Chippola JC and Desmond Henrix is a 6'10" center at Walbash...both have Cincinnati as schools expressing interest
Mike Williams will be a big upgrade over Ced....and allow Williamson to truly play the 3.

As of right now here there are 11 scholarships allocated for 2007
6 for 2008-Vaughn, Williams, Davis, Bishop, Belton, Wilks
6 for 2009-Vaughn, Davis, Bishop, Belton, Wilks, Mcelroy

Someone can help me do the math, I think you can give out up to 13 scholarships, so pending the Hall situation there are 2 open for next year without him and 1 open with him.
The key to UC's future is the maturation and improvement of this team over this season. It may not add up in wins or losses, but how they improve may be very important for 2007. If these players can come together and show drastic improvement, there is no reason why this team can't compete in 2007, the talent is there and if Mick can secure two JUCO big bodies to round out his class he will set this team up nicely for the future.

This is not blind homerism, or wanting to throw away this season. I just want to see improvement, because I know 2007 is a make it year for the rebuilding process.

07' is going to be a rough year too, IMO. The importance of being competitive next year lies in the other 7 guys Mick signs in 08' to go with Wilkes. That class could shape the future of UC basketball for the next decade.
Thank God Vaughn is a freshman. He can provide continuity for the next few years that Cronin is going to absolutely need. It is going to be a big responisibility but he seems like he has the strength and he definitely has the fealessness to carry it through.

Mike Williams is going to REALLY help next year. And he won't be a "new guy" since he has practiced with the team next year.
