It is a very good read, but in a lot of ways it's a series of soundbites taken from each coach. I also wasn't happy that (probably due to editing) he linked Tulane to "commuter colleges".

Quote:Aresco acknowledged a perceived lack of tradition at schools historically known as commuter colleges. While they're large, they've lacked the tradition Tuberville talked about. But UCF and Tulane have moved back to on-campus stadiums.

I don't know enough about UCF to comment for them, but I can tell you Tulane is about the farthest thing you'll find in the NCAA from a "commuter college." If anything, the locals complain that there's too many from out of state that spend 4 years and leave.
It will take a couple of years with strong OOC results and bowl wins to change media perception of the AAC to a de facto "Power" conference, IMO.
Tulane.... commuter college...? We must just be reading it wrong. He just means recent tradition.... or commuting to a stadium...? I should read the whole thing.
Thanks for sharing, Stookey

Like I said, I think the reference to commuter college was a result of editing. Then again, maybe he was referring to commuting to the stadium (Dome?)

I'm also a bit disappointed that the media didn't rake June Jones over the coals for suggesting the conference (and the other G5 conferences) should move to spring football. What an idiotic thing to say, especially since he participated in the failure of the USFL.

Ucf is far from a commuter college. We have a vast Student population on campus
