Summer is almost over, and Preseason Polls are about to start coming out, The USA TODAY Coaches Poll has a new title sponsorship, and will now be called "The Amway Coaches Poll " and it will be released tomorrow. USA TODAY Sports Media Group and the American Football Coaches Association will conduct the Coaches Poll.

The Cajuns have gotten a little bit of press this off season, and I think USA sports Media Group is high on the Ragin Cajuns, but I wonder how the coaches nationally feel about us. So what do you guys think about the Ragin Cajuns chances to receive votes to start the season?

Hope not. It's all hype right now. Let's just do it on the field.

why would we not want hype? we will have to earn it on the field with the hype or without. we are not surprising anyone anymore. might as well be hyped alone the way. plus it helps the all mighty conference perception.

I guess I don't feel we've earned the hype yet. Yeah, we've had 3 decent years of football and 3 bowl wins, but let's be honest here. That was a huge letdown last year when Broadway went down to injury. We were not prepared and a top 25 needs to be prepared for every such eventuality.

Our play, especially Broadway's courage and Nixon's play in the New Orleans Bowl showed me that there's something special still and I believe the team will be even better and more prepared this year. I just want to see it get done on the field.

Oh, and I hate the taste of crow.
How many Sun Belt schools have gotten votes early in the season before? I know we have as an over reaction to our upset of UH 02-13-banana. but then we went 4-8 lol03-banghead

Its never happened...and I don't expect it to start now.

We've gotten teams with votes. Both AState and the Cajuns have come close a few times to actually making the poll.
Winning the SBC and being picked to be the favorite isn't enough. You have to put together a good year with a signature win to get the pre-season votes.

10-wins or more season + signature win (quality P5 team) + bowl win (bigger than GoDaddy, NO Bowl or Camellia) = Preseason Votes
Wait....Amway is still around.
I would hope they at least get mentions in the top 25 (even if not ranked), as it would make it easier for them to then get into the top 25, and make my Bobcat victory against them all the sweeter.

The rev appears to be counting on some divine intervention.05-nono
I expect to see Louisiana with some votes to be in the Top 25, but I don't expect them to BE in the Top 25.

The first two... maybe three games will have to be won to crack into the Top 25.
First official poll(preseason) of the year is now released, and the Cajuns have indeed received votes. its a pretty long list, 27 teams in total, make up the others receiving votes. Im pumped about all the hype.

Others Receiving Votes:

Missouri 126; Florida 122; Central Florida 102; Mississippi State 74; Oklahoma State 56; TCU 54; Michigan 53; Iowa 49; Miami (Fla.) 45; Duke 41; Louisville 32; Marshall 27; Brigham Young 18; Boise State 13; Louisiana-Lafayette 12; Virginia Tech 12; Texas Tech 8; Minnesota 6; Cincinnati 6; Northwestern 5; Oregon State 4; Fresno State 4; Georgia Tech 2; Houston 2; Arkansas 1; Arizona 1; Northern Illinois 1.

also noticed 6 teams ( i believe) on the list that will be playing Belt members this year. Lets make some noise in OCC. 04-cheers

Blake Anderson, Todd Berry, and Larry Blakeney are the SBC Coaches with votes this year.
What's embarrassing is the love SEC still gets and Texas as well.
