Neil Armstrong walked on the moon July 20, 1969, which will be 45 years ago this coming Sunday. For those of us old enough to remember watching it on TV, where were you when it happened?

They said, though, that thereafter, Armstrong would tell unfunny jokes about the moon and follow it with, "I guess you had to be there."
Classic.
As an aside, I also like the story of Alan Shepard who swung two one-armed golf shots when he walked on the moon. He referred to trying a "sand trap shot" and the second ball flew "for miles and miles and miles." This video is a bit grainy but still pretty cool documenting Alan's swings...

When I was little my brother pulled that on me after we just got a telescope for Xmas. He told me I could see them walking if I looked hard enough.......
