Houston to host Vanderbilt in 2015 and travel to Nashville in 2021.

HOUSTON – The University of Houston and Vanderbilt announced a non-conference home-and-home football series Thursday. The two-game series will begin Oct. 10, 2015, at TDECU Stadium in Houston with the second meeting occurring Oct. 2, 2021, at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tenn.

The two programs met for the first time in the 2014 BBVA Compass Bowl, a 41-24 Vanderbilt victory.

With the series announcement, Houston has completed its 2015 non-conference schedule with home games at TDECU Stadium against Vanderbilt from the SEC (Oct. 10), Texas State (Sept. 26) and Tennessee Tech (Sept. 5) and a road game at ACC member Louisville on Sept. 12, 2015.

“The addition of Vanderbilt to the 2015 non-conference schedule allows us to reach our scheduling goal of two opponents from major conferences in the SEC and ACC with Louisville, along with a minimum of six-to-seven home games in a season,” said Houston Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Mack Rhoades. “We will continue to remain aggressive in our non-conference scheduling and look to bring strong opponents to the City of Houston.”

The 2021 meeting vs. Vanderbilt marks the second non-conference game scheduled for the season, joining Houston’s Sept. 18, 2021, showdown vs. the Big 12’s Texas Tech in TDECU Stadium.

With Thursday’s announcement, Houston now has future non-conference opponents in Louisville (2015-16), Vanderbilt (2015, 2021), Texas State (2015-16), Tennessee Tech (2015), Arizona (2017-18), Texas Tech (2017-18, 2021-22) and Kansas (2019-20).
