Live on ESPN, Marlins Park is proud to be hosting the inaugural Miami Beach Bowl this coming December. Brigham Young University is scheduled to play in this year's bowl game against an opponent of the American Athletic Conference. Tickets to go on sale this Fall!

FB schedules lists it as 12/23 (tentative).

A 2:00pm kickoff makes more sense on the 23rd. Not sure why it would be so early on the 22nd as there are no other bowls scheduled for that date.

BTW, I noticed FB Schedules lists the American alongside the P5 in their NEWS section at the bottom...little thing I know, but still good to see.

Let's face it: A bowl scheduled for 12/22 is obviously regarded as a bottom of barrel bowl thus suitable for afternoon program filler. Maybe ESPN has NBA or college basketball schedule for the evening?

Or, since 12/22 is a Monday, no sense is having it get murdered vs MNF?
Miami Beach in late December is Heaven on Earth. Great location for a Bowl
We got the 2pm Dec 23 bowl game last year. Many were not pleased b/c they had to work.
Is this really our "marquee" bowl????

(outside of a potential playoff/access bowl)

No one (teams, fans, etc...) wants to travel on CHRISTMAS EVE (24th). Remember...players have to get home after the game (teams fly back on charters the night of the 22nd)...and most will travel to their homes on the 23rd.

Can you imagine the fun of trying to buy a plane ticket for Christmas Even just 3 weeks in advance?

That's why conf/bowl folks want the game played on the 22nd.

No. I would say the Military Bowl at Navy stadium vs ACC is probably our best
We'll that blows
Well after the Access Bowl and the Military Bowl vs ACC at Navy stadium this would be my third choice

ESPN has plenty of daytime afternoon filler. Nope, this is a message. They are not happy we didn't hand over ownership of the bowl. The message back should be "Hello NBC, CBS-Sports, Fox-Sports 1". Yes, they all suck as outlets---but you would do far better at night on NBC-Sports than at 2pm Monday the 22nd on ESPN (or even ABC for that matter). Given most people will be at work, I wouldn't be surprised if the game ends up with more watches on ESPN-3 than on cable. This bowl basically just disappeared into a black hole. It probably has the worst slotting of ANY bowl. The Bahamas Bowl (Christmas Eve at 12pm ET) had the worst slotting until this one was discovered. At least with the Bahamas slotting, a lot of people are actually off Christmas Eve (or only work a half day)---so the afternoon slotting sucks significantly less for that bowl. My only hope is that the 2pm start time is just a placeholder and we end up with a 6pm start. If we get the 6pm start, its not so bad.
Does this bowl have a sponsor? Are we looking for one?
The executive director of this bowl is a USF grad

You think this bowl would do better on say NBCSN or CBSSN at night versus MNF than in the afternoon?

Yes. MNF wouldn't start until 8:30. A 6pm kickoff would fare MUCH better than a 2pm kickoff on a work day. This will be the lowest rated bowl of the year---which was a .5 by the Heart of Dallas Bowl in 2012. That was a 11am New Years Day bowl. Frankly, I'm not even sure Miami will be able to manage a .1 at 2pm in the afternoon on a typical Monday workday. That said, if you are on another network--you probably are not stuck going against the NFL at all. You would be on an entirely different day.

Technically, the Military (ACC), Birmingham (SEC), Armed Forces (B12), and St. Pete (ACC half the time) are better bowls. Aresco stated a couple weeks ago he's still trying to get Pac12 in Miami. Plus, there's the backup to the Independence bowl.
all of our bowls totally suck...this is just another turd

Sad but true, outside the prestige of a military bowl.

Not only is the Miami Bowl time slot a ratings killer---it will make the Miami Bowl unable to attract any local turnout from casual fans. Not the way to kick this thing off. I really hope the 2pm time is not correct.
I'll be at this bowl. I'm 15 minutes away
