That's a nice starting point for the season, wonder where Louisiana will land. What's the highest preseason ranking anyone recalls a Sun Belt team being at in recent memory?

Probably stAte at 55 last year - but that is just a guess.

You definitely have to earn your preseason rankings coming from the G5 and in particular the Sun Belt in the eyes of most, so it's certainly well deserved! Your recent past has built you and Louisiana a nice reputation for yourselves and our conference.

That is probably the best preseason writeup I have seen for us this year. The interior DL and the September schedule are the concerns I have going into the season. The OL is now wrose off than any of the last 4 or 5 preseasons and the skill players on both sides of the ball are better.

Few small mistakes. First, Anthony Tucker remains on staff from Harsin so there is one. It is Colton Jackson, not Johnson. I don't think Justin Lovell is a scholarship player or has ever played in a game and is not expected to play this year.

The only other thing I wish these writeups would include is more mention of the newcomers. He hit the fact that we will have some new guys on the DL and he mentioned former Oregon St. WR Tyler Trosin but there are some newcomers who are expected to contribute right away like Daryl Rollins-Davis, Brandond Byner, Terrance Hollingsworth (the big back), Blake Mack and several DL.

Also, look out for Xavier Woodson. He was a beast in the bowl game and pushed Kyle Coleman out of his LB spot during the regular season last year. He is a playmaker.

Don't know what it is, but that just sounds like a good football name.
Wouldn't it be nice for a Sun Belt team or two to consistently crack the top 50 and have another couple in the top 65 or so. I'd say when we can do that, at least at the end of the season, we'd truly be the cream of the G5.

Well I think Coleman's transfer to UAPB is official now so his spot on the depth chart won't be #2 if Turner is eligible. He was going to be #2 behind Woodson and #3 if Turner becomes eligible.

Says something about talent level when a guy who was a starter transfers before his SR year because he got beat out by a younger player.

You're setting your sights too low. We need a team or two to be consistently knocking on the door of the Top 25 or inside the room each year. It's doable.

Yeah. We need a top 25 team. That's the next step. Then people will remember us forever...or so I've heard.

Years ago the Cajuns had a wide receiver (think my memory serves me) whose name was Willy Culpepper. We were talking about him one day and a buddy of mine said, "he just sounds fast".03-lmfao

Fast enough to have a pretty good NFL career.

All of the other g5 conferences already do that
