the name of the team. I don't like the government trying to force this issue, but what if he said, O.K. We're going to choose a new name and let our fans submit suggested new names. The top five or ten names submitted will then be voted on by the ticket holders, and the name receiving the most votes will be our new mascot.

In addition, the names of all those fans who submitted the winning name, will be put into a hat (metephorically speaking), and a drawing will be held.
The winner will receive an award of $100,000. In addition the Washington organization will make a $100,000 gift to a Native American Charity. Now that $200,000 would be worth millions in good publicity and give the fans a chance to participate in the new name of the team. O.K. Now if UALR could do the same thing on a smaller level...............04-cheers

The name will be changed at some point. I guess the owner can continue to fight it as long as it's not hurting him in the pocketbook. He will lose this war eventually.

Maybe he can hold out long enough until enough liberals are voted out.
Somewhere I saw that as best that could be determined, 90% of Native American Indians had no objection to the "Redskins" name. Approximately 1 year ago I spent a full week at Rapid City. Indian Reservations are nearby. Watching as they milled around town on Saturday I would guess that most of them are not even aware of the Washington Redskins. Talking to locals, I was told that relatively few of them from the Reservation have jobs and most don't want a job. Like other segments of society the locals say the Indians get a ton of Free Stuff from the Govt. I noticed Obama was in the Dakotas 2 weeks or so ago meeting with the Indians. Wouldn"t you imagine the "Redskins" issue was mentioned and the Indians were asked to speak up for the Govt. position? Just a thought.
