(just got it Tweeted to me).

I would love to see some red at the 20 yard lines, even if it is where the 20 yard line meets the sideline.

BTW, the gray breaks up the all green look of Rynearson. Green grass, green graphics along the walls inside the stadium, green unis, etc.
Dear Friends,
It would have been nice to have added new lights with the new field turf, but that is for another day. I was wondering if gray was chosen because it may reflect more light, and therefore make the night games better for viewing? I have always been in favor of night games over afternoons. If one has lights, then use them.
Love the field mock-up. That scheme looks great.

Not sure I'm a fan of "The Factory" thing though.
I think the idea of shifting it up a little for EMU is great...BUT I'm not sure a complete grey field would do the trick. I like this idea and it would probably look awesome with the grey and green!

I like it, I heard about the idea a while back from a friend in the Athletic department and I couldn't picture a gray field, but after seeing the PDF I think it will look good. Like most EMU alumni and fans it has been a difficult few decades, scandals, student deaths, president house drama, etc... I could go on and on with EMU negativity, but rather I'm excited about the upcoming seasons (lets face it this year will not be good for Creighton and crew). But moving forward I like our coach, I like that our Field will be different, is "The Factory" a little corny of a nickname, Yes but no more embarrassing than a mostly empty stadium. Our student-athletes are working hard, we have a coach and coaching staff we can be proud of and at minimum our Athletic Director is trying new things. I for one, say well done. Go Eagles!
I like The Factory 10000x better than WMU's "amazing" campaign for Rowing The Boat. lol.

I agree. Green and gray would have been dynamite but all gray is okay.

Ken, I agree with you. I really wonder what effects the gray grass will have on light reflection/absorption?

I have been hearing humors of maybe a new scoreboard (2015?), maybe new lights (no date), maybe a week night game (which might require new lights), etc. etc.

What I don't like is that we did (or had to) spend say 1+M to re-do our Field Turf (presumably at the end of its life expectancy) but that means those bucks aren't available for new lights or a new scoreboard.

I think FieldTurf, new install, might be over 2M.

I was hearing that multiple things would be announced. The new gray Field Turf was one, but the other???

P.S. Renaming the stadium "The Factory" doesn't count. Lol.

I really wished Heather had addressed other unmet needs at 'The Factory', er, I mean Rynearson.
Maybe "The Suds Factory" will reopen.02-13-banana

IIRC, two-color is illegal in the NCAA.
The Factory? We all know the fate of most factories in the eastern part of the state, right?

It's still not a very smart metaphor considering the history of our region.
Agree that a factory metaphor as the U.S. has gone through a decade (or two) of de-industrialization which has really hurt a lot of cities is a little shaky to me.

Here is the Freep. They put the cost at 500K for the turf.

Is this the cost for REPLACEMENT turf (as compared to a new install)?

I'll check the life expectancy of Field Turf. Anything FB players play on be it Field Turf, natural grass, etc. requires upkeep or replacing. Thought I read our Field Turf was installed in 2005 so we got nine years out of the first turf.

I disagree - Rynearson is not "warm and fuzzy" - it has a lot of concrete. The fathead features help tremendously, but it is what it is, especially when crowds are small.

I won't call it a brilliant idea, but I like the concept. Give the team, coach, and stadium a new theme - something that reflects them and hopefully what we will see this fall.

Manufacturing is still an important source of jobs across the region, and its a concept people can understand and get behind both historically and as a theme for the team/area.

If we were to be realistic - the stadium would be nicknamed The Discount Retail Outlet, but that just doesn't inspire too much.

In any case i like this coach and what he's doing - I bet the Bronco fans would trade coaches without a thought...

IF we were truly lucky, it would be Quicken Loans Stadium.

Akron got tons of $ from their sponsors for naming rights to the stadium and field for their less than awesome football team. (They could NEVER had built a new stadium without significant sponsor help).
BTW, if there is any coach who can connect with the fans and encourage them to both come out for games and contribute gifting monies it is CC.

People will believe in him.

Agreed. The man is 100% legit.
Grey?? uninspiring and bland, its perfect for EMU football.
Dear calvin12,
You obviously didn't get the rationale for choosing the color. It's okay to think the way you do. We will see what happens when your team shows at Rynearson this fall.
