Radio interview just now stAte's AD seems frustrated that the Sun Belt won't agree to add the Aggies as an all-sports member.
He could be right.
Gridlock.
I absolutely agree. The geography is a little off but Las Crus isn't nearly off the map as Moscow is plus they definitely would help booster basketball after loosing the hillfloppers
Bonehead move. They would improve us in MBB immediately and football is fixable especially in a conference with better recruiting.
Adding NMSU in other sports gets the conference to 12 in olympic sports but it really does not address the east/west split. I believe the eastern schools (Ga. Southern, App., Troy, South Alabama and probably Ga. State) are more interested in a 12th all sports member in the east and the commissioner is clearly in favor of that also.

There is still the chance in another year that JMU agrees to join. If that doesn't happen (and it is unlikely to happen in my opinion), the choices are Eastern Kentucky, Missouri St. (although they are not really in the east), Jacksonville St. or Liberty.

That being said if NMSU were added in all sports it wouldn't bother me and we just stay at 11 for football.
I hope it happens!
I have been in favor of adding NMSU full sports, but that is a lot of travel for Olympic sports.

When you total the extra cost for all SBC members it's probably more than you gain. Plus I'm sure there are some SBC members that are still pissed when NMST left the conference when they were a full member for the greener pastures of the WAC.

And all conferences have a school or two from a group. If you want to be in a FBS conference, then you need to accept the fact that schools are farther apart. If its in an issue, then staying or going to a FCS or non-football conference is the right move for you.

Not really. Youre already going to Texas for UTA and Texas State. Its another TX trip. Its an air trip to to El Paso...
The add needs to happen, and I believe it will eventually. Where else would NMSU go?

He is dead on, but he, Farmer and others should have had an agreement in place with other the other presidents before agreeing to accept Southern Georgia and App. State.

doesn't sound it will happen any time soon. So, in the meantime NMSU will build up the WAC and grow it stronger like the WCC.

But as I said before, being in a FBS conference is more expensive, if you aren't able to handle it then go to the smaller regional FCS/Non-football conferences.

USL needs to join the Southland.
It is Georgia Southern, not Southern Georgia. If there are any fans who should be getting a name right it should be Louisiana fans.
Name foolishness=here we go AGAIN(even years before some of you were out of h. s.).

Right - and if you have divisions, you might actually reduce costs because you reduce
the number of the farthest trips you currently take every year doing home-and-away round robin.

Right. We'll still be available next year, which may be why the SunBelt was more wait and see.
But it means we'll still have this conversation through next Spring.

So, what's gonna change between now and then?
What are the latest rumous on conference merry-go-rounds?
What does the move by the elite upper echelon conferences mean down here on the ground?
