I understand some people wear their beliefs on their sleeves and want to fight for what they think is right but where do you draw the line? I think it is obvious that 90% of the time these situations are politically motivated. Is it not more offensive that most of the time there is an issue it is when the outrage is over a minority that group of people considers inferior even though they would never admit it. Fighting Irish:cool, Canucks:cool, ragin Cajuns:cool, etc etc...

My point is white people should not be allowed to be offended for others. End of story. What is your take?

This should be fun...

Like the time I was called a racist for referring to my
odd looking shot glass as a “Polish shot glass”
Related, specifically to the point of the "social cue" = as in "I care more than you do and that makes me better than you."

Quote:Online liberalism, as I’ve said many times, is not actually a series of political beliefs and alliances but instead a set of social cues that are adopted to demonstrate one’s class background — economic class, certainly, but more cultural class, the various linguistic and consumptive signals that assure those around you that you’re the right kind of person and which appear to be the only thing that America’s 20-something progressives really care about anymore.

Well white people are the majority of this country still, so if no white people get offended with issues not regarding their own race, the minority group is SOL, no?

The minority is always the loudest. Whether that be actual minorities or the white liberal.

True, Rosa Parks and the rest of the civil rights activist wouldn’t have
been successful if the majority of whites didn’t agree with their cause.

I was about to ask, what kind of "offended" are we talking about? There's a difference between using a racial slur to offend someone, for example, and blatantly discriminating against someone, like denying them a job or some other practical matter.
I'm just tired of the professionally perpetually Oooffended. The one's that have somehow turned being offended into a career.

that said, the above two posts are what I was going to say and ask at first as well.

What are you talking about? No one gives a **** when white people are offended...and you can double down on that if those white people are straight, Christian, males, middle class or above.
I'm really confused at what the OP is trying to ask. lol

This is not the fckin 1960s jim crow south you spent your 40s in AA. You cant even call your poop brown without being called a racist in this day and age. White people must play the neutral card now imo. They should have a vote among the remaining tribes to see whether the redskins should have to change their name imo

Reading comprehension was never a strong suit in your part of the country if I recall correctly. Id read it a few more times and then call your teacher.
If something offends me I'll speak my mind. I dont let race dictate my advocacies. If youre letting the color of someones skin dictate your actions youre a part of the problem. Grow a backbone and stick by your principles.

For some people there's probably an element of that. For others, they may have personal experiences that understandably result in their actions.

Yea, I'll do this if warranted. We were in a bar/restaurant in outer banks and couple guys sitting at the bar, one pretty loaded, March Madness was on and I think Louisville was playing.

This guy, thinking he was being funny or perhaps "edgy", I don't know, kept referring to the players as "Blue gums" and making comments ala Jimmy the Greek about "good breeding", and just other ignorant schit that was completely unnecessary.
Frankly it was probably pretty stupid also, as there was a table of 4 black guys near enough by to be within earshot of this loud mouth. I could see this starting a fight or confrontation. Maybe that is what he was angling for, I don't know.

So finally after a 15 minutes of this idiocy, damn near non-stop, I just kind of butted in and told him what he was doing and saying really wasn't all that funny and he was really kind of embarrassing himself. He tried some come back about "oh, you that much of a wuss", or "does that hurt your feelings" or some further dumb schit, but his buddy kind of stepped in and told him to tone it down too. And he apologized for his friend.

They paid their tab and left about 10 minutes later cause I guess I ruined dipschits "fun", but it was really just grating and taking away from the game and our time there.

So yea, I'll speak up if I think its needed.

What does being white have to do with whether something is offensive? If I'm in line at the local chicken restaurant and someone turns to me and says "look at all of these dirty (insert offensive expletive), am I right?" I'd say "wow, that's pretty f'd up and offensive." What would it have to do with me being white?

What kills me is when people see the truth as offensive. On another board someone asked about a car club in the state where people wrap their vehicles in commercial products and ride on big rims. Someone said that it's mostly black people who do this. You would have thought this dude was advocating bringing back slavery with that statement, because the PC crowd got super upset and defensive. "why do they have to be black?!?! That's offensive! Stereotyping racist!" However, his statement was true. It doesn't mean that these are bad people, thugs, or lowlifes...it just means they like tricked out cars.

Who would a thunk it. A real social activist disguised as a con. The real spy amongst us.
