I hope he can recruit. Mincy, like Thorpe, will be missed for his quality and aggressive recruiting!

Welcome Anthony!
Both of the new assistants have recruiting/playing experience in Europe. This could open up some new opportunities, especially getting big guys that are so tough to sign out of the U.S.
New hire Mike Wells has taken a job with the Utah Jazz. He will be replaced with Owens CC legend Jeff Massey, who has been coaching at St. Bonaventure.

The new guy is gone already?
Yep, hired by Quin Snyder who is the new head coach for the Jazz.

I will say this, I've never seen a program lose so many assistants in such a short period of time.

Proves the theory of evolution. Given the opportunity people improve their lot in life. Stacey took a step up from BG to high school, then a huge leap forward to UT.

Got to feel it for Coach K...looks like the Wells hire was not solid at all from Wells side...TK deserves better from his hires, especially when the guy was without a job to start with. Like the Stacey hire in that he will know the MAC and hopefully be appreciateive of TK for the chance to move into the college ranks. We will convert him to the Blue and Gold for sure02-13-banana Hopefully he will see the facilities and operation as a step up from BG. Go Rockets!
Sorry for the double post...my bad.01-lauramac2

You mean the TRIPLE post? 03-drunk
I don't care how long you've been on the job. If you get opportunity to make the jump from a MAC team to an NBA team, you take it. I'm not going to fault any coach for doing that. Does it suck for TK and his team? Yes. Does TK understand the importance of such an opportunity? I'm sure he does.

Bottom line. I don't think Wells leaving for the Utah Jazz affects TK, his staff or his team.

Yep. No reason to place blame on UT or TK because a guy accepted a job in the NBA.

Isn't the triple post the new offense we'll be running?
I was looking forward to the addition of Wells expertise on Defense and his work developing the inside games of Boothe, Garber, Williams and others. His time spent working out NBA low post players would have been a huge boost to Rocket post players

I'm guessing now Stacey will be working with the forwards and centers and Massey with the guards. Stacey was successful in the MAC as a 6'4 forward so he should be able to help players like Applewhite, Drummond and Weatherspoon

I really like the the hiring of both of these you men. They both have some ties to the area so hopefully that will make them more receptive to staying a longer time than their predesessors.
