In the Memo itself, the University admitted they don't even know if its a real name. The Question is, who was recording Norwood...if it was a player, my guess is they probably don't want it out there that it was them.

All I know is these things never end well. Though, if UALR is releasing this early, they may be attempting to call his bluff, not believing that what he has is worth what he thinks it is.
He claims to have a relative that played for Norwood at ualr.

The university certainly did the right thing by making it public.

Those guys on here that want CP gone, things may be looking up for you.
There may be a house cleaning after all this shakes out...

You guys have long needed a house cleaning. I'm conflicted here because I take pleasure in watching Norwood fail, and that part of me that still hates you guys for just being UALR is thrilled about this whole mess, yet also worried because I've always felt you guys were a competent administration away from really turning into a basketball powerhouse.

Then the other part of me realizes that your players and fans are good people who generally don't deserve any of this.

Your comments are appreciated. Like most of us, we just want our teams to win, but, I can only speak for myself, I've never had any hostility toward fans of other teams. And I might add, I've been treated very nicely on my trips to ASU. Other than the Red Wolves beating the snot out of both our men and women last year. I don't know what will happen with all this Norwood stuff, but I do believe it could result in some needed changes in our athletic program. This could just be the tip of the iceberg.
It saddens me that some of our best and most loyal fans feel such hostility toward our Athletic Department. I realize they all have their reasons. While I disagree with some of the decisions of our athletic programs, I personally have no reason to dislike any of the people making them. Our rivalry with you guys is one of the best in the league, and I hope it continues for a long time.04-cheers

No one looks very good in this mess. "Mr. Hudson" may have legitimate reasons for being angry, but his employing terroristic tactics- threats accompanied by 24 hour deadlines makes him like an Al Queda member threatening to execute hostages if his demands are not met immediately. Public release of this crap was the right thing to do. The local media really can't ignore this now. If things are as bad as "Mr. Hudson" alleges, more head may start to roll.
When the Chancellor starts having to cover himself with the president about a baseball team, things ain't good. When ADs and coaches start causing the head guy headaches, it is reasonable to assume changes are coming.
I hate the guy releasing this stuff did not just go public with it through the news or a blog but the ualr athletic departments leadership has been collecting a check while on auto pilot for a long time.

Likewise, I really appreciated the UALR fans who gave our football team a standing ovation during our game in Jonesboro last year. Showed me your fans in a new light.

I think you guys will finally get a good house cleaning out of this.

Norwood had been there more than one year, so Peterson had to know what he was like before this last episode. Not good.

You have to realize that Chris is an old football coach, and when he played, these things were sort of par for the course. Coaches were somewhat maniacal at times and the players just understood that and put up with it. But kids today aren't likely to respond well to that sort of stuff. It's a different time. But to Chris is was probably just normal behavior. Could be his undoing.05-stirthepot
UALR sports get very little coverage unless it's a scandal of some sort. This episode? If the allegations were not so serious, the whole thing would be comical. Is the AD on vacation or hiding? I had always believed most of the Athletic Dept took the entire summer off. I'm sure it is embarassing for the Admn, but a "house cleaning" don't bet on anything close to that. Afterall, this is govrnment.

I've said for years that wins and losses were not the major factor for Chancellor Anderson. He seemed to have an athletic department that ran quite smoothly, graduated players, stayed out legal trouble, stayed out of NCAA trouble, and represented the University with class on the field/court. As long as these things held true I believe he was quite happy to be able to focus on academics which should be a Chancellor's main concern. A renegade baseball program is not something he ever expected to have to deal with. What happens from here, who knows? But it looks like people above the Chancellor will now be involved in making some of these decisions. There will be no more cover-up. But, "Mr. Hudson" will now have to lay down his cards if he actually has them. No more bluffing. Interesting to find out who this guy actually is, and if this is his real name.

"Hudson" obviously had something (the Norwood rant tape) and may well have more. But if he doesn't (or even if he does) could legal action be brought against him for his threats and attempted blackmail?

I'm no legal scholar (or a scholar of any kind), but I'm not sure this would be legally classified as blackmail or extortion. That would be, IMO, an attempt to squeeze money out of someone with private information that you have that they don't want to come out. In this case, this supposed person just wants the athletic department held responsible for this reprehensible treatment of young people. He or she isn't asking for any financial reward. Our legal scholars can comment on this.04-cheers

Sounds like a good point to me. If he wanted money or something else (ex. a player reinstated, scholarship for a relative, etc.) it would clearly be extortion. I still wonder if his claims of having 40+ damaging audio/video tapes is bogus, whether he is guilty of something.
Students athletes certainly don't deserve this stuff. Fans don't deserve for it to happen to their program.

I want UALR to lose to us. But this kind of stuff...no.

I didn't make it to Jonesboro last season, but had I been there, I certainly would have stood for the ovation. In fact, I consider myself a Woof fan during football season, as I have no other football team I root for. Have even been to Jonesboro for several games over the years.
