Wondered if that was ever going to become public.

Gotta agree with Norwood on leather belts vs elastic though.

I lost count of the number of times the "F" word was used when it went over 80 or so. I guess that it was Coach Norwood in a "good" mood. Hate to hear him after a loss, if this is what he was like after a 4-0 start. Sure fooled me. I thought he was a "nice" guy. Might be a good idea to talk to a player or two, before we hire another coach from another a school.

Arkstate Fan- how do you know about this stuff when us diehard fans no nothing?

I guess he thought he could keep this "quiet" and go back to coaching at DII or Juco. With his success at Quachita I'm sure he could have gotten a lower level job. With this now public, I doubt the job offers will be pouring in.

Players Talk. A few of the UALR players mentioned it in conversations with our players. Our own coaching staff would warn our players before every UALR game that Norwood was a royal jerk, and might try to start something in game. They were to ignore it entirely and not get involved.

A large majority of us were just waiting for the proverbial crap to hit the fan. You guys need a major house cleaning in the baseball program. Your players don't deserve the way they get treated.

It's been swirling around the media. I was emailed a copy of the audio recording and had the same opinion most of the media apparently had, guy has been let go, no compelling reason to put it out there now.
Good riddance.
I have heard of this type of behavior before from one person that I wouldn't name, but who is very close to the team. I never mentioned this because before this tape came to light, it was merely hearsay, and there was no proof, although I trust this person's word totally, especially now. This makes you wonder what kind of investigation was actually conducted in the sexual harassment case. And, from what I was told, this type of behavior has been going on since Norwood has been here. How can this type of behavior go on for six years without Peterson or Hogan knowing about it? I'd be willing to bet that at least some of the charges made by the assistant coach are true.
Which one of you was it that Norwood yelled at on Twitter? That should have been clue 1 that he had serious anger management issues.

I'm glad the players finally spoke. Resigned or not, it needed to get out there.
No student-athlete should have to endure that.
For ualr fans and especially the baseball players, good news that he's gone. As a stAte fan, I'll miss him. Perfect foil. Type of personality you enjoy your team beating, and we usually did.

We did learn that coach likes a neat lockerroom and leather belts.
Just don't understand why it took six years to see the light of day if it's been going on for a quite awhile. If it's the press's thinking that if he's been let go, why bring it up, then they aren't doing there job. I always knew they tried to cover up as much **** about the hogs that they could, but then when forced to, they bring some of it. I guess the rug wasn't big enough to sweep all the Petrino **** under it, or they would have tried. Sounds like our athletic department perhaps was trying to do some "cover up work," instead of "undercover work."

How did the guy last at Quachita Baptist for a number of years? You would think someone at a church affiliated school would be offended by his language/behavior and have complained to someone in a position of authority. It's sad to think of him going into the homes of potential players and convincing parents how he would take "care" of their "boys". Then they come to campus and are treated like this. And what we heard was from when the team was 4-0. Can't imagine what players had to deal with following losses (of which there were many).

Its a lot easier to overlook the antics of a winning coach. A sad but true reflection on how our society works.

Very sad indeed. Not surprising that one of his ex-players said the taped rant was an extremely "mild" example of the coach's tantrums since it occurred in the middle of a winning streak. Talked about one and a half hour rants that regularly occurred on bus trips. I had a couple of baseball players in my class this spring. Very nice young men. The whole situation is very sad.
Need to investigate just a little further. Sort of like in business, we always talk to an applicant's bosses, not to the people who worked for him.

Someone needs to demand an impartial investigation with someone other than the fox doing the investigating. This is smelling worse every day. Just think what they might dig up if the local media was really interested in UALR. Probably the only reason this thing even made the papers is that the hogs are not doing anything right now. No hog DWI's, rapes, motorcycle wrecks, textgates, or dope busts.

One thing that I didn't understand in today's Democrap article, was the part about "players and volunteer coaches were given discounted housing rates." I realize that baseball players aren't on full scholarships, so I guess some or perhaps all, have to pay for their apartments. I didn't know that there were any volunteer assistants, although the assistant who made the complaint against Norwood was listed as making $30,000. I assume food stamps come with that. It would be hard to live on that, especially if the guy had a wife or even worse, a family.

That's a good question that entered my mind when I heard this tape, and thought back to what this guy had told me about this type of language that occurred quite often. While UALR isn't church affiliated, I'm finding it hard to believe that Chris Peterson and perhaps the chancellor didn't know that Norwood wasn't a Sunday school teacher. Surely someone in the hierarchy of the athletic department knew that some of this was going on. No wonder he couldn't recruit better players. Recruits have a way of finding out about a coach that is recruiting them, they talk to present and former players. And I find it strange that at least a couple of Arkansas State fans knew more about Norwood's antics than our people. The sad part of this is, very few give a **** what happens with UALR baseball.

Baseball teams are allowed only two full time assistant coaches, so any other coach must be part time on a volunteer basis. Housing allowance is pretty common for players living off campus. Though more and more schools are putting baseball players in the dorms and just leaving the dorms open for them for the two to three weeks the season is still in session, yet school is out.

News travels fast. But some of the biggest jerks have a great ability for putting on a pleasing face when they need to.
