At least they get rid of coaches when they don't perform

Why hasn't someone hired him?
Someone hired HOltz, for goodness sakes.

Coach Mangino too - that guy was a miracle worker.

Because he will choke out players?
If you aren't the type-A person that has to be coaching/working (coaches because of ambition), sitting on 2.5m/year for a few years isn't a bad way to live.

You sure about that?

First, most coaches have a mitigation clause. If they find another job that pays them money, that reduces the pay from their old school dollar for dollar. This would apply to Holtz.

Second, most coaches contracts are structured so that part of the pay is guaranteed base salary, and part of the pay is outside income (for coaches shows, appearances, etc.). When coaches are bought out, they only get the guaranteed base salary. Not the outside income.
Tampa Tribune

The information came from yesterdays Tampa Tribune
Those are not one year payments

Leavitt has been the 49ers LB coach for years now.

Thanks for the slanted post towards USF. It'll remind me to bash all BS posts and any unflattering event that includes ECU.

Pirate fans please at least try to be accurate. Those payments are spread over the next 5 years. Sorry if that total is more then you've been getting paid. We didn't mean to hurt your feelings while we attempt to elevate our programs. 07-coffee3

How exactly is that a slanted post towards USF? I posted that to show the OP that every school has a former coach on the payroll at one time or another and the fact that USF is currently in that position isn't uncommon.
