Nine days ago Houston and Louisville squared off for the American Baseball Championship - now both are on to the NCAA Super Regionals just two wins away from Omaha.

The American is now 7-1 in the NCAA Baseball Championship - that .875 Winning Percentage is tops among all conferences.

Where and who does Louisville play?

Houston plays Texas then the winner of Oklahoma State/UC Irvine. Louisville has Kennesaw State, then the Vandy/Stanford winner.

Looks like some good matchups.

Bids were placed before May 15. Did you really expect UH, or ANY TEAM for that matter, to outbid the riche$t athletics program in the nation?

That said, NCAA hasn't been kind to UH this year. Although we had the resume to host, we were forced to travel to one of the toughest ballparks in the country, for the second-toughest (by RPI) regional in the country. We beat LSU in Baton Rouge, and what's our reward? More travel...

No surprise that $$$ wins in the NCAA, but still disappointing that it's not based on resume at this stage.

Both Houston and Louisville are in the decimated side of the bracket.

National 1, 4, 5, and 8 seeds are out. Rice as the de fact national 9 seed is out.

So our side of the bracket had 5 upsets in 8 regionals. And it was the top 5 seeds.

Odds are very high that one of these 5 teams makes it all the way to the title series:

Louisville
Houston
Okla St
Vandy
Texas

just looking right now at the NCAA official site- Houston was 10 in RPI and Texas was 12 in RPI. It's not like the polls at all where saw Houston was 9 and Texas was 20.

Hey I'm upset just like everyone else but I can think of one person who is upset but maybe just a little happy (just a little) Todd W.

UH just beat one of the best teams in the country in their house TWICE. One could imagine the team that has not been to this level in quite sometime getting a little "big head". How can you refocus your team? Have them feel like no one respects you and you need to go earn it.

While I'm pissed we did not get to host. It will be much sweeter if we can beat UT at UT.

The RPI on NCAA site was last updated May 26 -- prior to regionals.

The rankings I posted above are RPI from Warren Nolan, which include all regional games. After this weekend in Baton Rouge, UH moved up from 10 to #2, and UT-Austin moved up from 12 to #6.

While writers' polls are nice for us fans, they're generally meaningless.

Yes it will be sweet, but much more difficult to win on the road than at home. UH has been road warriors for a while (haven't played a game at Cougar Field in a month now), but just cause we've been winning on the road for the last month doesn't indicate that it'll continue this coming weekend.

I agree with you that there's some motivation in getting snubbed, and Whitten is a hell of a motivator, but sure would be nice to stay home this weekend. Not to mention, I was at our 2002 Super Regional in Austin, and it was filled with literally the most classless fans I've ever been around. Not looking forward to that crap again.

Regionals have absolutely nothing to do with the seedings. Likely Texas was seeded ahead of Houston prior to the tournament.

you just see in basketball all the time a team with a better RPI getting a lower seeding. I mean, Kentucky had the #17 RPI yet was a 8 seed. UConn 22 RPI and yet was a 7 seed. RPI just is one tool in the process..

you just see in basketball all the time a team with a better RPI getting a lower seeding. I mean, Kentucky had the #17 RPI yet was a 8 seed. UConn 22 RPI and yet was a 7 seed. RPI just is one tool in the process..

Oh I know but in every metric we were (and still are) ahead of them.

They have deeper pockets and thats what got them what they wanted plain and simple.

What's amazing is Texas was #12 in the RPI- and didn't get a regional themselves.

Dont forget that UT did win the lone head to head matchup this year 3-2.

I agree that UH should probably host, but lets not go fully aggie and start developing convoluted conspiracy theories.
