to Alabama!

Apparently they are desperate for a 2015 game. It appears they have Sep 12 and Sep 19 available.

You guys have scheduled a home game vs Norfolk St on the 12th and a home game vs NC State on the 19th.

You have 7 home games scheduled in 2015 (which is awesome BTW)

What would you guys think about dropping either the Norfolk St or NC State game and going on the road to Alabama? TV exposure, BIG paycheck, etc.

In regards to the NC State game they probably will not honor their return game anyway. Those weasels will try to buy it out for sure. May as well strike first, drop them and get PAID.
No thanks :)

We really have nothing to gain from a matchup like that. Alabama would beat the living hell out of us.
Dropping NSU for Alabama will not happen. We are not going to drop our FCS home game for a certain loss in our first year of bowl eligibility. Plus we are going to make pretty good money off of that game as well.

ODU has everything to gain. Get your name out there. Not afraid to play anybody. Helps get CUSA some exposure. Gives your athletes a chance to play vs the best in that environment. This is what college football is about. Who cares if you loose...it's expected. But if you win ala Appalachian vs Michigan......

No, we have nothing to gain. Our name is out there--for both good and bad. Good because of the success we've had so quickly, but bad because of what happened at UNC. It's not just about losing and potentially wrecking bowl eligibility, but it's also about injuries. Playing Alabama could be disastrous for us. We're nowhere close to being ready to play that program. Maybe in five years, but not now. Pride is all good and well, but you have to be realistic and smart.

OK. Sorry. I'll try better next time. Good luck then.
How has playing Alabama helped Georgia State? Some money in their pocket and another L. We don't need money in 2015, we need wins, and why in the world would we give up a 7 home game schedule for a guarantee L?

Not interested.

Nothing personal... I don't know you from Moses.

1. ODU is not Georgia St....you have a pulse.
2. Every program needs money.
3. Would you make more money with a home sell-out against Norfolk St/NC St or a trip to Alabama where they will have 100,000 people there? This is an honest question I'm not sure about what your home games make for you.
4. You give up a 7th home game for the chance to play Alabama....good or bad. You guys have been great in FCS and played good last year. You haven't earned anything yet. Going to Alabama would earn your program some respect either way (with the folks that matter). Just my opinion. But I have a -28 rep whatever so I don't know.
Playing at Alabama, IMHO totally ridiculous to even consider it now.

Would it gain that much respect? I don't know. We could easily lose to them 45-7 or worse, I don't see us getting much respect from that. Might make us look like one of those "Garbage Teams you buy to get a win", that's what I'm worried about. If ECU went to Alabama, people could consider that a good game, where ECU could get some cred, but ECU has a lot more history than ODU. We don't even have a winning record vs FBS.

I just don't see that much gain to be had from a game with Alabama, not at this point. Not unless they decide to come to Norfolk, and I think we all know the likelyhood of that happening.

Well the likelyhood of NC State actually coming to Norfolk is slim to none also....unless there is a big time recruit up there they have their eye on they WILL buy it out. So you're going to be looking for a replacement game anyway.....may as well be Alabama.

ECU also has an opening on Sep 19 for the 2015 season. Would LOVE for us to reach out to Alabama and try to get it done. IF that happened our OOC would be @Florida, @BYU, @Alabama and Virginia Tech at home. That would be great despite all probable losses.
ODU already turned down Alabama - remember? We don't want any. Hell, this topic was the #1 on /r/cfb for days.
How games will EZU have on National venues in 2014? ODU has a minimum of 8 and up to 10. Maybe EZU should cancel a game in 2015 to get their name out there!

Counting ESPN3, probably all of them. (This comeback should not be used)

EZU. That's cute. Can't come up with anything original?

I'm glad ODU will be on TV often. That's good for your university and program.
