Well, now that our sports seasons are over for the year and the countdown is on for July 1, I just wanted to give a genuine thank you to CUSA.

CUSA has been good to ECU and I'll take many good memories from our games and our time here. I hate that some of our rivalries will come to an end, but so is life I guess. I wish you all the best in the future. I'll always pull for CUSA to do well, as I know you will.

Take care, folks. From a grateful Pirate.04-cheers
Classy...thanks!
I know you were talking primarily (if not exclusively) to the "old school" conference members with whom you share many memories of exciting competitions, but I would like to respond. As a fan of one of the "newbies", I already feel at home in C-USA, and I want you to know that the Monarchs will work hard to uphold the conference reputation of excellence that the Pirates helped to establish.

Thank you for the good words, and best wishes to the Pirates as you move on to the AAC.
Best of luck, really did enjoy having you in the conference; always a tough game. The 2006 4th down hail mary to Jarrett Dillard in double coverage by our 3rd string qb to keep our season alive and become bowl eligible (which was our first bowl season in 45 years) is one of my favorite sports memories of all time. Would love for a team just moving on from C-USA to win the AAC for the 2nd year in a row.
I echo the sentiment! Being our 1st D-1/FBS conference home, CUSA will always have a place in my heart & on my TV when games are on! It has definitely been one H*LL of a ride! Keep pounding & best of luck in the future.
I will remember you, will you remember me? Don't let your life pass you by

I STILL say CUSA missed an opportunity last season, not having Skip Holtz bring his La. Tech team into Greenville, where he won 2 championships! THAT would have been an electric atmosphere, IMO!

Again, best of luck to the "Old Guard", and to the conference newbies, kick @ss & make your mark on CUSA! 04-cheers
ECU fans are nothing but class and also know where they came from. Beat Cincy mercilessly!

FIFY
The CUSA road was tough and memorable from beginning to end for the Pirates that is for sure...

Liberty Bowl Alliance -- CUSA FB only --CUSA full member-- *CUSA CHANGES V1. --CUSA CHANGES V2.--CUSA CHANGES V3.-- end of the 2014 baseball season.

A few things that stuck in my mind overall though were

Rice and ECU always seemed to play with something at stake in all three sports for the most part.

ECU/UTEP football was kind of cool, but the basketball games in Minges were EPIC EVERY TIME.

Beating Marquette 2x in a row when they were ranked and the fans coming to Greenville for game #3 was cool.

Beating Louisville for our first CUSA bball win.

I concur with kicking Sicy's a$$. Best of luck in the AAC. Until we meet again.......................
That last second come from behind win for ecu in the Sun Bowl a few years back (10 years?) is still stuck in my mind. I hate you!

03-wink
Southern Miss and ECU have a long history. Some great games in the past. Many of them controversial and some even caused rule changes by the NCAA. Really going to miss you and your fans. I hope that some how some way we can renew the rivalry in football and baseball. Best of luck.
Oh, the Rice hail Mary in 2006 was a heartbreaker! That kept us out of the championship game. Marshall and Rice, in back to back years, knocked us out of the championship game and let UCF "back into" the east division title. We held our fate in our hands, but couldn't get it done. That's not to mention the drubbing we took in Huntington this past year.

I can't remember what year, but at home against USM, we had the lead about midway the fourth quarter. They put together the longest, slowest drive I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing to win the game in the final moments. I believe Fletcher was the running back then.

The USM game in Hattiesburg that we one on a last second interception that, to this day, I don't think Golden Eagle fans believe was actually an interception.

Of course, I remember the dagger in the hearts of UTEP fans with the TD pass from Rob Kass with 0:00 on the clock. I think I ran laps around my house after that one.

"The catch" that Marshall made against us. Uggghh.

Though they're leaving too, the our hail Mary catch in the endzone to beat Tulsa with no time left.

That's all just football. Anyway, thanks for the memories. Here's to everybody making new memories and new rivalries.
best of luck to ECU

Are you old enough to remember the USM "forward latteral" for a touchdown on the last play of the game that caused a penalty taking away the touchdown BUT since at that time a game couldn't end on a penalty of any kind, USM got an untimed down after a 5 yard penalty from the point of the latteral and kicked a FG to win. NCAA changed the rule the next year.

Is that the game where one of our fans rushed the field and attacked the ref?

Definitely. Best/worst part was one of our fans immediately jumping the fence and attacking the ref. Got his ass beat by the ref before the police got him.
I couldn't believe that catch by Jarred Dilliard in 2006. He was double-covered and I think he had to wrestle the ball away from one of the ECU defenders as he came down. The play before, ECU almost had a pick-six, but the defender dropped the easy interception. Rice was just destined to go bowling that year. Rice was paid back for thirty years of bad luck all in one season.
I'll be one happy camper if ECU cleans up in the AAC. You have to know how special ECU is to most Marshall fans, everywhere. From my perspective, with absolutely no disrespect to any other team, ECU is the one school I will miss the most in C-USA. Best of luck to you guys!
