Does this apply to the Sun Belt too or is it just a Georgia Southern thing?

I would think it will allow the Sun Belt more opportunity to schedule with Florida well at least until one of us beats them then they will probably ban the Sun Belt teams from their schedule as well.
If more big programs would stop scheduling FCS, it would be a good thing for us in the G5. Would give us a lot more opportunities to play big OOC games.

Right, sure, ask Georgia Southern' AD to call them and set up a game. Got the feeling that right now GaSo is on the Florida black balled list. Took five years for Michigan to call us for a rematch.

Entire SEC has been discussing this by the way:

Saban wants P5 to play only P5.

If I coached Alabama I would too. If I coached Ole Miss....no. BTW let Saban get his head handed to him a few times by P5 schools and this would go away.
No one who thinks they might be a contender wants to be left out because scheduling sunk them.

It was my understanding that ESPN set the App/UM rematch up.

ESPN set up the App State -vs- LSU game back in 2008, which had originally been set for later. Michigan called us wanting the rematch is what I read. They even went into detail about asking others, such as Coach Moore, if we should give them a rematch. Besides, would imagine it will be a BTN game so doubt ESPN would have much to do with it, unless maybe they are running the BTN for them or have alternate showing privileges.

That is not a fair statement they don't play FCS teams that often. App may be the next one they scheduled not sure. Anyway it is a lot different than never playing FCS teams again.
The P5 FCS games may go away but Florida doesn't want to be embarrassed.

Michigan scheduling APP ST has been criticized as in what do they have to prove.
MAIN ADVANTAGE: No FCS games means more games with G5. Competition for G5 teams is high;this increases the guarantee money and helps offset cost of attendance money,etc..If the trend continues you will be able to soon play one money game for what it now takes two to bring in. Less supply-approx. same demand-price will rise.

True, App has been criticized for doing a rematch. However, on thing, it does prove we will play anyone, anytime, even when it might seem to not be in our best interests.

I'd have pushed for more money.

How much do you think we are getting?

If it's less than 2 mil it's not enough.
I agree that we should have got a lot more money.
The TV networks were fighting over the game according to Michigan's AD.
The rematch was announced in 2011.
I would have asked for $5,000,000 personally.

Quoted from:
http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ss...works.html

"Why? Because from the time he announced the Wolverines would welcome Appalachian State back to Michigan Stadium in 2014, people haven't stopped talking about it.

"I'm kind of a marketing guy and I like setting up games that have a lot of interest," Brandon said recently. "We're going to play Appalachian State and I get a lot of advice on that game.

"The networks were fighting over who gets to televise that game.""
So my EKU Colonels will be the last FCS school the mighty Gators will play.

This move to eliminate FCS games from the P5 is another reason we are trying to move up.

Well, maybe some day it will happen.......
The thing is the fans of the power schools don't want to pay to see even G5 schools. Everyone is struggling to fill stadiums right now with 70 dollar tickets and higher, and when they go those fans don't want to see Alabama play a Sun Belt, C-USA, AAC, or even a Mountain West team. Even the good ones. Bama fans don't care about Troy, 90 percent of Tennessee fans don't care about Memphis or Middle Tennessee in football. And they're not showing up for those games.
The reality is the day is coming where the P5 conferences arrange some form of an NFL style schedule where they rotate playing each other in two year cycles, keep one OOC for traditional intersectional games (ie SC/Notre Dame, Kentucky Louisville, Ga/Ga Tech, etc...) and maybe the fourth they look to the G5's, but it's doubtful. It isn't a knock against what G5's and FCS programs are and do, it's just the mentality of P5 fans who aren't interested in spending 300/400 dollars on a weekend to see Tennessee play South Alabama or whatever P5 vs. G5/FCS.
