Nice piece.

Quote:Western values of liberty are under ruthless attack by the academic elite on college campuses across America. These people want to replace personal liberty with government control; they want to replace equality with entitlement. As such, they pose a far greater threat to our way of life than any terrorist organization or rogue nation. Multiculturalism and diversity are a cancer on our society. Ironically, we not only are timid in response but feed those ideas with our tax dollars and charitable donations.
Lieberals have always been the party whose goals were "command, control and confiscation". Admit it. Democrats you suck.

Had me up until the bolded part. Respecting each other's cultures is a good thing.

You don't seem to know what those words mean then.

I know exactly what they mean. We've had "multiculturalism" since the beginning of this country. In most large cities you have "Chinatown," "Little Italy," and other areas that are similar. Usually they are near each other, and people respect each others' culture.

You're the guy who offered a definition of "critical thinking" that was completely wrong too.

Hmm... or maybe you just have bad definitions based on preconceptions of what is good and bad in your head.

That and 2400 years of W. Civ.
From The American Heritage Dictionary:

Quote:mul•ti•cul•tur•al•ism (ˌmʌl tiˈkʌl tʃər əˌlɪz əm, ˌmʌl taɪ-)

n.
the existence, recognition, or preservation of different cultures or cultural identities within a unified society.

Tells me that every Chinatown or Little Italy that has been around for hundreds of years are specific examples of "multiculturalism" and that it has been going on for generations.

Is that multiculturalism or certain groups segregating themselves from the rest of the surrounding community?

I'd imagine if they were segregating themselves they wouldn't welcome other cultures to come experience their culture. In this case, they are welcoming others, not blocking others.

Welcoming as in taking their money, then I agree. It's just business.

Call it what you will... it isn't segregation. And those little neighborhoods completely fit the description of "multiculturalism."

If you equate "culture" to "restaurants". Otherwise, those cultures aren't so welcoming to outsiders.

And while I enjoy food from other lands like most everyone else, that's a small element of a culture, and usually innocuous. It's funny how people are so proud of themselves as they default to that sort of example, while ignoring the more treacherous elements.

Just playing devil's advocate. Just seems to me like it's self segregation if a group isolates itself from everyone else. Sure, we can all go in and grab a bite to eat, but not so sure how they would feel if I tried to open shop.

I didn't know you were that old.

Sounds like the communist views in China and the old Soviet Union. Is that what our society is turning into? One that can't handle views from outside our "comfort" zone?

Does it? Wow, what a great scholar of history you are. I bet it sounds like Hitler's Germany too.

Ever read the founding fathers? 03-shhhh

Anyway, there is a difference between having a debate or doing scholarly research on those subjects, versus having them forcibly inserted into our existing society and having to suffer through negative consequences w/ no obvious, peaceful way to restore the original successful one.
