Ball State’s baseball team is ranked 26th in the nation in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Poll presented by Big League Chew bubble gum.

Only two other teams from the Midwest are ranked in the top 30. Indiana is 9th and Louisville is 10th.

Ball State has won 8 in row and 13 of its past 14 MAC games. The Cardinals are 38-16 overall and 22-4 in the MAC. They have not lost a MAC series since April 2012.
Congrats to the Cards, I hope to see you in the MAC championship on Sunday.
Any chance at an at-large if someone else wins the tourney?

With 31 automatic bids and 33 at large, it seems like a chance, especially if they make it to the final series and fall at the last hurdle. The way they've been playing this year, through, can't say we are likely to put that to the test.
I think it is time to lower the Kent State flag and raise the Ball State flag on MAC Baseball.

I ain't saying that Ball State isn't a great team, but let's let them play the MAC tournament. I seem to remember teams being crowned by proclaimation in the MAC Football (Northern Illinois) and Basketball (Ohio) championships this year, and having the final results being different (Bowling Green and Western Michigan) than the team that everyone figured would win

Of course, Ball State has lost the last Championship game to Bowling Green, so their string here is 0 as of now.

Just as a reminder, here's the MAC tournament champion list:
1981 Eastern Michigan
1982 Eastern Michigan
1983 Miami
1992 Kent State
1993 Kent State
1994 Central Michigan
1995 Central Michigan
1996 Akron
1997 Ohio
1998 Bowling Green
1999 Bowling Green
2000 Miami
2001 Kent State
2002 Kent State
2003 Eastern Michigan
2004 Kent State
2005 Miami
2006 Ball State
2007 Kent State
2008 Eastern Michigan
2009 Kent State
2010 Kent State
2011 Kent State
2012 Kent State
2013 Bowling Green

So Ball State is still looking for their 2nd MAC Baseball tournament championship.
It might not be quite ready to lower the Kent State flag, but Ball State is certainly working toward that goal. Just look at the All-Mac honors the Cards garnered this year:

Rich Maloney, Manager of the Year
Sean Godfrey, Player of the Year
Zach Pleasac, Freshman Pitcher of the Year
Jarrett Rindfleisch, Freshman of the Year

All-Mac First Team:
Sean Godfrey, OF, Senior
Ryan Spaulding, 2nd Base, Sophomore
Zach Pleasac, Starting Pitcher, Freshman
T.J. Weir, Starting Pitcher, Senior
Jarrett Rindfleisch, At Large, Freshman

2nd Team All-Mac:
Sean Kennedy, 3rd Base, Freshman

Three other usual starters in the OF, 1st base, and Shortstop are also freshman. The future looks good.
I'm just happy that Akron qualified for the MAC tournament for the first time since 2005.

2010 Kent State
2011 Kent State
2012 Kent State
2013 Bowling Green

So Ball State is still looking for their 2nd MAC Baseball tournament championship.

I'll admit I may have been a bit hasty with my statement, but I went to school from 2007-2012. Looking at your list makes me realized how spoiled I was during those years.

Another school proclaimed champion loses it when the games are being played

Its not like a Ball St fan was proclaiming themselves champion, it was a Kent St fan.

In College Sports, you got to wait until you get 9 years of being at or near the top to be considered a dynasty - that shows you graduated 2 classes of players and are still winning with the next class. As of now it's 9 championships in 14 years for the Golden Flashes.

Louisville is located in the state of Kentucky, which is a southern state.

However, when I visit Louisville, I forget I am in Kentucky. Louisville feels like any other midwestern city.
Kentucky is, as we say, a border state. I grew up in Cincinnati (you might've guessed that) and one of my brothers and his family now live in Union, KY (both their kids went to UK). They do not consider it to be in the "south" per se.....but you can see it from there!
