Thanks Kerry, for a guy that was about 5'3", weighed about 130lbs when he enlisted at age 17, and they tried to make a cook out of him, he was one badass fighting machine. After getting three meals a day for three years, he ended up being about 5'8" and weighed about 160 lbs. during his movie career. An interesting side bit to this, President Eisenhower said one time that Murphy wasn't very convincing to him as a cowboy hero, because he was so small. Did Ike forget what Murphy did during the war to become the most decorated soldier of the war?

They told the whole story at the site where he held off the germans with the 50 cal on the burning tank.

I was amazed.

American like me just dont know enough of our history.
