Satanic group says Oklahoma must give the devil his due

Quote:"There will never be a satanic monument on the grounds of the Oklahoma State Capitol and the suggestion that there might be is absurd."
- Alex Weintz, spokesman for Gov. Mary Fallin

The Prince of Darkness won't see the light of day in Oklahoma, if lawmakers have their way.

A satanic group commissioned a statue of the devil, raising money to pay a sculptor who it won't identify, as a way of protesting the Sooner State's placement of a Ten Commandments monument on the Statehouse lawn in Oklahoma City. The statue, being sculpted in a New York studio, is nearly complete, according to Lucien Greaves, spokesman for the Satanic Temple.

“We’re really coming along fast,” said Greaves, whose group claims to have raised more than $20,000 for the project through an online crowd-funding site.

The statue of the Baphomet, or Sabbatic Goat, a figure that has been used to represent Satan for centuries, is to be made of bronze, poured over a clay mold. Images provided to FoxNews.com show the hideous figure on a throne, with smiling children at each knee. Greaves' organization seeks to force Oklahoma to allow placement of their statue or demonstrate what it considers an unconstitutional double standard.

The Satanic group sounds to have Jay Z's name all over it.
I gotta admit, they did troll oklahoma pretty good here
Maybe Buck Dharma can give them some space for it.
Muslims should protest since goats are their alternative sex partners.
You (the group of Christians here) want your 10 commandments on govt property... then so too should any "religious" organization get the chance to put up a statue of their own.

I think its funny. I mostly disagree with either group getting a statue but whatever.
Looks like the guy behind this group has a long criminal past - including an advocacy group for pedophiles called the false memory foundation. A liberal's hero in the making.

So according to the 3 of you it's OK to mock someone's religious beliefs just because you can.

Uhhhh where is the mocking? I see two legally observed religions executing their (apparently?) right to build a statue on government property.

Ha ha, you want this troll to work so bad. But it's not going to work. All you have done is show your support for a pedophile advocate.

Why do you support causes from pedophile advocacy groups?

Here's one thing we know. Lucien Graeaves aka Doug Mesner will never show his face in Oklahoma while advocating this. It would almost be worth it to force him to make an appearance.

Oklahoma Governor: "Ok Mr Mesner. The state will approve your statue, but you have to be present and make a public speak at its unveiling."

I'm not the one trying to declare the outcome before it happens...
This isn't about the Satanists, but about the David Bartonists.

The entire point of the these 10 commandment statues is to try to reinforce the fiction that the USA is a "Christian" nation (Christianity of course, defined by evangelicals) and that "Christianity" has more rights than others in the public square.

Absolutely its trolling. But it will likely be a very effective troll.

Think again. The Ten Commandments will remain. Just like the Confederate flag has remained. They will just find another way around any ruling.
