Charlotte wins first game of series at UTSA 5-2. Charlotte youth movement finally beginning to pay some dividends. After starting conference season 0-11, the Niners have gone 5-2 in their last 7.
Easy to tell who was the best coached team in Hattiesburg tonight. Gonna be interesting in the off season to see if we are satisfied with mediocrity.

With all due respect, how can you possibly blame that loss on coaching? Your guys misplayed several balls in the field (beyond the one error actually scored an error), you struck out 12 times, and only threatened to score twice the entire game. If not for a couple inning-ending web gem catches (each with the bases loaded), this game would have been a total laugher.
Lol.. You obviously do not know much about baseball. Go back and check the play by play and see who executed and who didn't. They come back and make that statement again. Obvious coaching difference to anyone familiar with baseball

Yeah, I guess I know nothing about baseball. Try again. And I watched the game live.
Then you are dumber than I thought. Tell, oh wise one, what do you think is involved in coaching in college baseball. Gotta hear this...

Don't wholly disagree but I'm not sure how errors and misplayed balls from one of the worst fielding teams in Division I cannot be related to coaching.

We are not a very well coached team. Too many balls are misplayed and too many backwards k's are taken.
Yes its execution, but Rice is a much better coached squad than we are.

And with Wayne Graham at the helm, you're in the same boat as 99% of the other teams in D-1. BTW, we may be a very good defensive team, by offensively we don't execute very well at all. Our bunting this year has been downright embarrassing, as has our baserunning.

We have finally got our defense cleaned up and stopped giving runs away. Pitching has been great and the bats are starting to come around with clutch hits.

It's great to see the team getting it together. The experience gained by these young guys is going to pay dividends down the road.
if there ever was a night to not lose a game.....with UTSA and USM both losing last night......ughhh.......we could have been in 3rd place all alone.....

now 3 back in the loss column to Rice.....though thank you Charlotte for knocking off UTSA.......
Owls win another at Southern Miss. 3-2
will be awfully tough to catch Rice now for the regular season title......battle for 2nd is game on though
Current, I think

1 Rice 18 - 5
2 Southern Miss 13 - 7
3 Texas-San Antonio 12 - 8
3 UAB 12 - 8
5 East Carolina 11 - 8
6 Old Dominion 12 - 10
7 FIU 11 - 10
7 Middle Tennessee 10 - 9
9 Florida Atlantic 10 - 12
10 Marshall 8 - 11
11 Tulane 6 - 13
12 Charlotte 5 - 14
13 Louisiana Tech 4 - 17

Very close from the race for second all the way down to the sprint for the eighth spot in the tournament.

Baseball IQ can be recruited, Rice gets those guys. Graham is one of the best, their endowment doesn't hurt tho either. Credit to Rice, where as their academics can be a detriment to building a football or hoops team, it's beneficial in terms on baseball. Especially with limits scholarships teams can give!

Please elaborate more on the connection between endowment and baseball success? I'm not sure I see it..
