Lots of "bookmarking" to be had today. See you in Game 8.

With all due respect to Troy, this year will not be the best of times for the Trojans. Sorry.

How have did you draw that conclusion?

Your team lucked out on a last second "Hail Mary" miracle last year. Won't be a repeat in Mobile this year.

Better to be lucky than good. However SoBama has yet to prove to be either of those. A 30 yard fade to the corner of the endzone is hardly a Hail Mary.

I did read your message board last season after your disappointing loss in Troy. You guys are laughable with your SoBama was the better team but...........spill last year.

Our schedule is pretty tough. Just getting to 2-2 out of conference means beating Utah State and their star QB but we do get them at home. Miami and Tennessee will be tall orders. We don't get Ga. So. or Troy. I think we beat Ga. St., Idaho, NMSU, ULM and App. St. and that gets us to 7. That leaves USA at home and road games vs. TXST and UL. I think we beat USA at our place. UL will be tough but we have had success there so not unwinnable. First trip to TXST and their DC knows us well.

We return everyone form our back 7 on defense. Our DEs are solid. Interior DL is our big unknown. We get back 3 starters on the OL. We return the leading WR in the league, a top TE, a star RB and an athletic QB who won a bowl game and rallied us to beat WKU before they scored on 9th and goal.

We may not run away with the league but don't count us out as we return from our one year departure from our offensive identity.

USA vs. Louisiana in Lafayette should be a classic matchup as both should be the top two teams in the league this year.

After the butt whipping the Cajuns took in mobile last season, I don't expect that game to be as close as you anticipate. Hudspeth has been good about flipping the table the next season after a bad loss. BTW. exactly how many snaps has your QB taken in actual FBS games? He maybe the next Teddy Bridgewater in ability, but I've seen nothing that proves he is anything but a question at this point.

He may be a question to most of you that are unfamiliar with his talent, abilities and athleticism. He's the real deal, and you can take it to the bank. Barring injuries, he'll make believers out of the SBC teams in 2014.

If he was the next coming why wasn't he a starter last year?

I can see Troy getting to 6 wins.

Since it wont require wins over Georgia Southern and App State to reach 6 that is..... 05-stirthepot

Should be a fun season.

Well, that remains to be seen. So he is a prospect, means he has accomplished nothing to this point for discussion other than potential.

LOL. You wish!

Actually, the more wishful thing involves USA Winning a title despite not having its QB situation worked out. You're asking a new QB to turn a 6 win team to a 9 win team.
Just to address any ASU fans who are chalking up a win over USA already... Just remember the series... Game 1 against an FCS transitional USA team came down to an onside kick; Game 2 was won by 1 point.

If that is any indication then this year's game will probably be a closely contested one as well. This game wouldn't be one I'd chalk up as a "win" yet. That's not to say you can't give reasons why you think you'd win. I just wouldn't say it and expect to win based solely on our young program age.
I don't recall AState ever being favored to win the title. We've lost Freeze, Malzahn, Harsin, Aplin, Kennedy. No chance for the Red Wolves this year. We will politely sit on the sidelines observing.

Well then, that's it! Glad we could come to a consensus! LOL!!!!!

I think most Jag fans are optimistic because of his huge upside. He's a fifth year senior that got a good bit of playing time last year. Here's an article/video of his arm strength...

Here he is outrunning the Mississippi State secondary for a long td...as a freshman!

Hey man, we didnt say that.. one of the preseason publications did. That being said, this could be the year a bigger bowl comes calling on UL.

It was not a hail mary not matter how much you want it to be. It was scripted play to #3 Eric Thomas, our best receiver. No one else was going to be considered for that ball. That's not how hail mary's work. We were inside the 50 at that. Was it the last play of the game, all or nothing? Yes. I thought it was pretty crazy that Robinson got the ball off milliseconds before that extra pass rusher got there. Luckily our 5-4 170 (I have seen him in real life, he is that short) pound running back Khari Franklin sniffed it out and threw a block at him just in time. One for the ages.

Your team lucked out on two extremely pivotal plays last season that resulted in TDs and a fumble near the red zone that would have had Troy go up 24-7 (They went up 24-7 the next series anyway). And you still lost. No matter how bad we were, you were lucky for it to even be that close. That tells me your team was not as good as you think they are, and to base your prediction on that might not result in what you would like it to. Teams don't usually get lucky twice in a row.

Your offense has me worried, but lucky for us we have an offense just as good or better. Your defense doesn't scare me because we can and will score in droves against anyone. We didn't score less than 32 vs any of our SBC opponents last season. If Troy lucks up and gets a defense this season its ce la vie for just about everyone. Good luck in all but one!

Glad to see so much support for everyone's team. That is the way it should be and simply reflects the conference is getting stronger with growing fan support. Some teams will not do as well as expected and my number one team on that list is ULL. Not wanting a fuss but rather believe some teams were down a little last year and ULL was improved. The Cajuns will be on most teams hit list this season. Think this showed somewhat in the last games as well. State certainly was having problems with our coaching at the time of our game last year and hopefully that will not surface this season. Do think most teams will be improved which is great. Hope everyone wins some of those early games to get the season started well.

I agree. Wish everyone well in all games except one. I also agree about Louisiana. I think they'll be good. Hudspeth doesn't put out bad teams. I just don't think they're going to the godsend most of their fans are expecting.
This is the Fun Belt anything can happen. But a lot of people are casually waving off Louisiana when they shouldn't.

I agree it was not a Hail Mary but the final play in an amazing drive. Great game between two teams that were pretty evenly matched.
That being said, everything being said about USA's QB situation can be applied to Troy's, perhaps even more so since Bridge at least has some FBS (and FCS) experience. USA's other skill positions are stocked as well as anyone's and maybe better than everyone's, and their offensive line is deep and experienced.
Defensively, there are good players to replace but the starting DT's are both quality, experienced guys and the Jags signed JUCO All American Jimmie Gipson III (17 sacks last year) to help at DE. LB Malecki Harris, the best playmaker, is back along with three starters in the secondary and the recruiting class focused primarily on defense as well.
All-in-all, I expect USA to be a good team but with a very tough schedule. I think six wins is a pretty safe prediction (if there isn't a plague of injuries) with perhaps nine if things work out well.

I can agree with this. I think you win at least 7 though. Gut feeling. I'd have to look closer at your schedule.

Cajun fans are like all other fans, tend to over hype teams or players at times. But, when you return 18 starters and a QB that has won two bowls its hard not to be confident. For the Cajuns, it comes down to keeping Broadway healthy and on the field. Had he been able to finish the ULM game or play USA, odds are the Cajuns would have won one of those games and the conference title. I see no reason why UL won't be the favorite of most publications this fall. Health remains the key in all championship seasons.
