I posted this in the recruiting thread too as it seemed like it was more rumors, but now EdgyTim has also just wrote an article about this as well and he is extremely well respected when it comes to IL HS recruiting.

This cant be good...If a kid is tweeting that he committed to a school but never actually got an offer that puts the school in a pretty awkward position

From EdgyTim:
Did NIU land a verbal commitment on Saturday?
No.

Without naming any names, a kid has been out there pretending that he's been offered and has pledged to the Huskies.

Again I won't name names since it's kid and I would never want to openly make any kid look bad.

Just be aware that kids can and will lie whether knowingly or unknowingly more than ever these days. I have rock solid sources that have been trying to let this kid know what the deal is yet he still "runs" with it.

This becomes an issue for schools since kids who they have already extended an offer to or kids they already have received a verbal commitment from begin to panic and ask questions.

Here is what a I posted in the other thread. Interestingly enough, one comment is from an NIU player

while reading this article about Jalen Miller transferring from Julian to Thornwood this year, here are some of the comments posted. Its all blog comments so who knows whats real, but interesting nonetheless..

I play for niu and we did not give that dude no scholarship especially not for defense.. And we set for QB and WR..he needs to stop lying because he is embarrassing his self

How does he have offers with no highlight tape and they were 3-6 and many of them games Julian didn't score

Posted by: ??? | February 27, 2014 at 07:28 AM

his ass suck.!!!! the lies he tells against raby julian had 28yrds of total offense if he is that good that would have never happened against a shakey raby defense

Jalen miller has 0 offers he might get mail from some colleges but that doesn't mean that is a offer..going to a junior day doesn't mean that they offered you..schools invited over a thousand kids to their junior days and no! A school do not have a thousand scholarships so if that kid thinks he has scholarships he is fooling himself...if the head coach of that team didn't sit in front of him and say we will like to offer you a full ride scholarship then it's not real

The Kid was not a very Good Quarterback! He's mechanically a mess.and for a two year starter his decision making ability was horrible, that led to a shortfield for the opposition if not a easy pick six and more losses for a once proud program!!!..When you put a kids in a position to fail that what happens,Bottom Line that was not the right type of offense for that kid to run.Hopefully Twood works better for him..

Yeah I haven't seen any highlight film, that alone is kinda fishy. He is playing the commitment off awfully well tho on twitter.. He has a bunch of the incoming commits congratulating him and such
yeah its gotta be pretty embarrassing once it comes out. reminds me of this story http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?id=3236039 years back where the kid made it all up and had fake signing day parties at his school and stuff. i just dont get how you could make it up, like the truth is never going to come back to you???
Fake signing day was legendary!
Huskiewire is on record that he committed yesterday..

where do you see that??

i dont see anything about it on HuskieWire's twitter feed or on their website...

EDGYTIM has written more about it basically guaranteeing that its bogus and the kid has zero offers. Such a weird story...
He might be committing to NIU, but not NIU committing to him.

edgy already said some of the recruiting networks just ran w what his twitter said (makes it even funnier people pay for these types of services)

but like i said, went thru all of the huskiewire tweets saturday and all weekend, nothing about this kid

i wonder if this is the same deal as w that Laron Golden kid last year. He was one of our first "commits" had basically zero stats or highlights vids but kept saying he was an NIU commit and tweeting our other signees then it turned out he never had an offer and didnt come here. I think last I checked he ended up going to a D3 school in Indiana or not playing at all

Bizarre...

Did he have a fake girlfriend too?
Laron Golden signed with Austin Peay. They are FCS.

Indiana Prep Notes: K.V.'s Dunlap picks Northwestern for softball
TIMES STAFF
MacKenzie Dunlap has yet to have a practice for the Kankakee Valley softball team and coach Brian Flynn. But the power-hitting middle infielder already has her college commitment confirmed.

Dunlap, a member of the Kougars girls basketball team, verbally committed to play softball for coach Kate Drohan at Northwestern.

Some standout performances with the Beverly Bandits 14-and-under travel softball team opened this door of opportunity. Two visits to Evanston was all the ninth-grader needed.

"It was awesome," Dunlap said on Tuesday. "The girls on the team and the coaches were great. I knew this was the place I wanted to play."

Ohio State had also offered Dunlap, and she was high on Michigan's recruiting sheet as well. But the honor roll student wanted to attend a college was a great academic history. -- Steve Hanlon

A simple twist of fate: Bowman Academy wide receiver Laron Golden verballed to play football at Northern Illinois in Sept. of 2012. The goal of playing for one of America's top mid-major programs was realized.

Then, Huskies coach Dave Doeren left to take the position at North Carolina State, and it was time for Golden to start the recruiting process all over again.

"I didn't fit what the new coaching staff was looking for in a wide receiver," said Golden, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound defensive back as well.

Golden, though, became his school's first Division I recruit in football on Wednesday when he signed on at Austin Peay University. He will be a roommate of Morton's David Wall.

"Everything worked out great," Golden said. "If one door shuts another one opens. I'm very excited about this opportunity and can't wait to get to Tennessee." -- Steve Hanlon

Wait, wait, the recruiting service got it wrong? Aren't these the same services that personally analyze every high school player in the same manner the NFL analyzes (only) the top college players to give them stars? I can't believe they could get this wrong. 03-confused
