A very informed source has told me JMU's Board of Visitors met in a closed door session this past weekend to discuss SunBelt membership. After a lengthy discussion JMU's administration decided to turn down an opportunity to join the SunBelt. It was emphasised JMU does not have an invite to CUSA or the MAC as neither conference will be expanding in the foreseeable future. This is likely JMU's last opportunity to make the FBS move for some time to come. There are obviously financial situations in play as President Alger has told JMU alumni groups he would pursue FBS if someone steps up and writes a 7 figure check. It is believed the SunBelt will now pursue UMass for football only and NMSU for all sports.

If true, good luck to the Belt. The fool in me thought that with App State as a former football and geographic rival that the JMU admin might pull the trigger this year and all would be forgiven on our end...guess not.

If true, there is a huge gap between fans thinking they should be in CUSA and their administration thinking they should be in FCS.

How disappointing for their loyal fans.
Hate it for their fans.
Would be devastating at any school for
their hopes to be shot down like that, if true.

Poor JMU! There fans deserve better. Has to be hard hearing that your school prefers being left behind.

I have an odd feeling of both blowing smoke i doubt I'm right but my gutt says both msu and JMU are inc to the SBC

JMU and MSU saying no at the same time may not be a coincidence. Maybe they know that they're out of the picture because the spot is already taken.

I'll believe JMU isn't in the running on June 2nd or another school is announced. No offense to the OP but I'm gun-shy over wild Internet speculation.

Did JMU and Mo State really just turn the Sun Belt down? Haha wow...awkward.

You know my sources have proven to be right on the money over a long period of time. This comes from a very HIGH source. BTW where do you get these crazy videos you play. My wife cracked up when she saw this one.

Ditto. Just a week (maybe two) ago, JMU & MSU both had invites and were Belt bound. Now they both say no? Two weeks ago (or maybe 3), Liberty was a lock for the Sun Belt, now they are on the outside looking in.

Too many fake smoke signals abound for any of it to be trusted until it's reported by the Sun Belt, or the schools themselves.

Oh yea of little faith.... Mizzou State did not have an invite, JMU did.

If these reports are to be believed we have several choices now: Invite Liberty, Invite Eastern Kentucky, Invite UMass for football only and make NMSU all sports, Invite Jacksonville St. or Invite no one and stay at 11 with plans to toss Idaho aside when we can.

If "reliable sources" were credible, App would have been CUSA in 2011.
