The race card has been beaten to death, nuked, buried, dug up and nuked again. All they have left is to try and trot out the race card and see if it sticks. What a pathetic group of people. Of course Carter finally has someone in Obama to maybe take over his spot at the worst President of all time.

Race is the primary reason white Southern men support the Republican Party, former President Jimmy Carter told Salon in an interview posted Thursday. Carter also pushed back against using the Bible to trample human rights.

When asked why white male Southerners have turned to the GOP, Carter said: “It’s race. That’s been prevalent in the South … . Ever since Nixon ran — and ever since Johnson didn’t campaign in the deep South, the Republicans have solidified their hold there.”

Republican proposals, such as cutting food stamps and assuming the guilt of minorities and the mentally ill who are in jail, appeal to the rich, he said.

“Those kind of things just exalt the higher class, which is the whites, and they draw a subtle, but very effective racial line throughout the South,” Carter said.
Carter has now had one-third of a century (November 1980--April 2014) to get over the fact that 44 states and 59% of the people, rejected him when he ran for re-election. But he just can't seem to do it.
Probably. Drawn to the democratic party too for the same reason.
Oh thank goodness, for a second there I thought I was drawn to the GOP because I shared their views... WHEW.

Wonder what the excuse is for my northern white friends...
He hints at the truth. It's wealthy v poor, which is true everywhere.
In my experience, and I know a lot of southern republicans, I'd say evangelical Christianity is way higher on the list of reasons than racism.
I wouldn't say all Southern men do this but without a doubt, the GOP has attempted to use race in order to sway more people toward their cause.

Nope, it's racism. 07-coffee3

I keed, I keed. 03-lol

I had a colleague this week tell me this story of how one of his employees quit to take care of her terminally ill husband. She then applied for unemployment benefits. He could believe it. He was telling me how much of a conservative she was and not depending on government. He felt so betrayed.

There is a lot of tribalism involved. You line up with other people because you want to fit in with the group. "I go to a nice conservative church", "We are raising our children with conservative family values." It all sounds so nice and well-packaged. That is until the rubber hits the road and you need that check from the government.

In the real world, racism isn't even close to being honorable mention... In the liberal utopia, however, these are the good things:

Democrats get upwards of 90% of the black vote.

That doesn't mean however that the party is attempting to sway them to vote that way. That simply happens because the poor generally vote democratic and black people are generally poor.

I lived by myself for a couple of years and paying all the bills by myself, I could barely afford food at times... Not once did I ever try to get government assistance. I believe that if you can work, you don't need assistance. Had I wanted the extra income THAT bad, I would have gotten a second job. Even an extra $100 a week would have been perfect in those times. I prayed about it, and got a $5,000.00 per year raise.
Jimmy is admirable when he's building houses, then he opens his mouth again and we realize why he's a dumb*** all over again. Hammer and STFU Jimmy!

By your own logic, you're saying that whites must generally be at least middle class, so why can't middle class generally vote Republican, or do you just HAVE to inject race? I can assure you, 110%, that you're more concerned with race than whites are.

Lol, now THAT'S funny!
Remember when he put solar panels on the White House?

It's a proven fact. For example. Everyone knows that more white people are on government assistance but whenever GOP sponsored campaign commercials come out on TV, they always show black people in their commercials. Ignorant people see that and their racism kicks in and they vote for the GOP..

Bless your heart.
We've seen the same tactic used by the same person who posted this thread.

This person will post crimes committed only by blacks so that people will begin to associate that kind of crime with only black people.

It's a tried and true tactic.
