Haven't seen it yet... Plan on doing so this weekend.

It's actually very good. The action is more grounded as close to reality as you can get in a comic movie.

Saw the Dr. Strange reference and S.H.I.E.L.D. will be back. Stan Lee has to regret selling off Marvel characters to different movie studios. Scarlet Witch is the daughter of Magneto but yet they will not be able to appear in a movie together because Fox owns Mag and Disney owns Scarlet.....sucks!

As far as the movie goes, I thought it was very good. As a stand-alone Avenger character movie, I still would rank the 1st Iron Man and the 2nd Hulk movie ahead of it.

1. "Stan Lee" didn't sell them off, the Marvel Licensing company did.
2. Fox and Marvel actually both own rights to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Fox owns them because they are mutants (they own all X-Men and mutant characters) and Marvel still owns them because the characters were actual Avengers rather than being stuck in the X-Men storyline.
Both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver appear in the new X-Men film and the new Avengers film as two completely different takes on the characters.
Complicated stuff.

Hulk is by far the worst of the Marvel movies. I can't believe you said that.
Hail Hydra.

Mainly because they botched the hell out of it in the editing room. Edward Norton walked out of his contract with Marvel because they screwed it up so bad. Over an hour of the movie was cut including an epic scene where Bruce Banner goes to the Arctic so that his body can be slowed enough for him to shoot himself in the head. When he shoots himself, he becomes the Hulk and breaks open Captain America from the ice.

The 1st Hulk was, the 2nd wasn't in my opinion.
Wonder Twins power, activate!!!

I loved it. Not counting The Avengers, it's a very close second to Iron Man for my favorite in their Cinematic Universe.

Captain America; The Winter Soldier is quite possibly my favorite superhero movie ever made. Definitely beats Avengers to me. At the time, Avengers was mind-blowing because of all the hype and actually being a great team-up version...but when you go back, the first hour is sloooooow.
This movie gets to the point very quickly.

Avengers had the same problem all first superheros movies do - they have to do the origin, even if we all already know it.
It has to be hard to write, introducing that many characters and providing a rationale for them to become a team without it being a bit slow at first.

When is the last time you've watched it? I've seen it multiple times since it first premiered and it moves pretty slow for the first 40+ minutes.

I agree. But that still factors in when I'm comparing movies. Captain America: The Winter Soldier still introduced multiple new major characters in the movie without much need to be slowed down.
Avengers 2 will have the same issues Avengers 1 had as far as building up, so I'm interested to see if it pays off as well as it did in the first one.

The other day. I think it was your anticipation to see all of the characters together is why you think the 1st hour was slow. I actually thought the last 30 mins was way over the top from an action perspective.

It was my anticipation for the film that had me enjoy the first hour so much when I first saw it. It's on recent viewings that I realized how much it drags at first.
Not saying it's not a great movie, it is. I just don't think it is as good as The Winter Soldier.
My Top 3 Marvel (and probably superhero films in general) are:
1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
2. The Avengers
3. Iron Man
I suspect Iron Man will be replaced by Guardians of the Galaxy, but I won't know until I see it. Iron Man was fantastic, but it suffered from a huge letdown in the final act.
