Everyone had that attitude but it gets changed once they see its not the conference they once thought it was.
Yeah, I know they will change their tune once they experience what the SBC has to offer and the atmosphere for football games in particular but getting through this part is annoying.
OK, NOW tweets are reliable sources since they say what folks want to hear. Me, still cautiously waiting,

I really believe JMU fans would be excited about playing football games vs. Sun Belt schools.

It would be like the FCS playoffs every Saturday of the week...

Yep, and then they get to a bowl game and continue the grand tradition of beating a MAC team that every G5 conference seems to enjoy.
If it means getting MSU and NMSU I'll take JMU or Liberty
I hope this works out. In football that would be 2014 (this year): 11 schools for football 2015: 13 schools for football with Missouri St. and JMU transitioning/ Ga. Southern and App. St. would be full members 2016: 12 football schools with Idaho released/ All schools full FBS and eligible for bowls.

There was from what I understand big-time opposition to Idaho but based on the 12 team idea they were added for football. This "exit clause" was put in at the insistence of the Sun Belt. Idaho was in no position not to take ANY offer they could get to play fb in the Belt.

Just so I can sleep at night, nmsu doesn't have agreement like this right?

No. But there is a clause to allow us the opportunity to invite all sports.

So are you saying NMSU has a UMASS clause.

No. There is no exit clause. Just a clause that allows us to add all sports should we choose to. There is zero chance NMSU would turn down such an invite.

Remember, the SBC has always maintained a strong relationship with NMSU. Its not something we're going to just give up.
SBC East: JMU, EKU, App State, Georgia St, Georgia So, Troy

SBC West: USA, ULL, ULM, Arkansas St, Missouri St, Tx State
Under this scenario NMSU would be brought in as an all sports member in 2016-17 although I guess it could be done in 2015-16

What I can say for 100% certainty is that Stoss doesn't know anything. I'm not sure what he does all day, but he sure isn't keeping up with this stuff or digging up info.

Stoss has been an empty suit since Mike Barber left. Talk about contrast.

Mike Barber, he's the one that said a couple weeks ago that JMU would be following App State
If so, my JMU dislike (which is epic) will reach new heights. Enjoy that shaky stadium.

You're right, it's definitely a very different situation with UMASS. I see the Aggies coming along. My question would be, if Benson pulls this whole thing is he a genius?
Sun Belt is almost setting itself for a rivalry weekend if they wanted to:
Arkansas St/Missouri State
Texas St/New Mexico State
Louisiana/ULM
South Alabama/Troy
Georgia St/Georgia Southern
App State/James Madison

As I've stated before, JMU would be more appealing but I'd just as soon take Liberty with MSU and NMSU just because they on surface ACT like they are greatful, eager, and want to be a part of our conference. To me that carries a ton of weight.
I realize that every fanbase has their poor sports and obnoxious element but I really detest negativity and arrogance. I am a bit too optimistic but it beats the alternative in my opinion.

The SBC is as good as CUSA or the MAC and fans should focus on what their school can do to improve while being positive about their conference.

I'm not sure if it will help your feelings about us, but I think that's a minority opinion on our board. I think most of us would be excited (and relieved) if we announced a move to the Sun Belt. I know I would.

Every conference needs someone everyone else hates, and they wear purple to boot

Would an official invite ever be issued if there was a chance it would be turned down?

If I were the Grand Mufti of the Belt, I'd have at least a verbal agreement in my back pocket before I'd ever issue an official invite.

But that's just me.

Yeah, but remember its King Karl we are talking about.

The same guy who created a plan to bring BYU back into the WAC fold and poach a couple of schools from the MWC only to have the MWC say, "How cute... we'll just take Nevada and Fresno and call it day."

I shouldn't complain, that's how we got our spot in the WAC, but he had egg on his face.
There really is no egg to be had here.

What's Liberty going to do, say no because we asked someone else to dance first? They will accept no matter what. This puts the ball in MSU and JMU's court. They accept now or deal with their own fallout.

And that fallout will be significant, especially if JMU gets stuck in the CAA.

Uhh...No. If this works, I wouldn't be shocked if you saw a couple notable Western Schools make a push for Benson's ouster. Could write it off as the perfect opportunity to finish the creation of our new image as a league.
