The NCAA declined to sanction the university, saying the scandal was academic in nature, not athletic.

Mergers I just laugh.

The NCAA has said one auto bid
Per conference. That's why MWC and
CUSA did not merge.

So a 8 team conference = 1bid
A 20 team. Still = 1 bid

Also in all of the conference shuffle
Over the past 5 years not one
Merger of 2 conferences took place

Each school was invited individually

That would be nice.

Not sure if Cardenas (freshman member of the minority party) has the clout to make it happen, but I'm sure rooting for him on this one.

D.K. if there are mega conference mergers they likely will occur outside the bounds of the NCAA so the issue would be moot. If they stay within the NCAA maybe they go to 16 each, but I doubt they get any larger than that.

Back to the thread, there is a great disparity in the way the NCAA investigates everything, not just academic issues. It's about time an outside source to a look at everything.

You mean UNC got their knuckles tapped with a ruler whereas other universities actually got punished???!!? I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked!
