Two coaches going head to head tomorrow who I feel are solid role models and genuinely good guys (if you've ever heard UVA's coach speak). Just feels like its Pastner's time to take a big one in the tourney. Hope I'm right.. I'd love to see 3 AAC teams in the sweet sixteen. I haven't paid a lot of attention to UVA's players so not exactly sure how the teams stack up. Anyone got the insight?

Good luck Memphis 04-cheers
Every time I watch UVA I am underwhelmed. They remind me of a team somewhat like Cincinnati, incredible defense but when they are cold shooting it can cripple them. They are the 1 seed you want to face but you still have to respect what they have accomplished and it will still be a tall test for Memphis but it is something they can certainly pull off. Need to be focused for 40 minutes and Pastner needs to be a bit more hands on, he seems to be a more passive coach on gamedays and that I think hurts teams in tournaments (Cough Fran Dunphy cough). Certainly the chance is there just need to grab it.
Going to be a tough game for us....not a good match up at all. That said we can win if we can cut down on the turnovers and mental errors. Can't wait!
ACC teams are dropping like flies. You can do this.
Define the Big one. If you mean get to sweet 16 round, I think they are the better team and should win. Do you mean win it all, or get to final 4?? I would love it, but doubt its time yet.
Lets go Memphis! I will be there in person this evening. I will be loud and wearing blue!
I caught a game at UVA last year and they were really not very good. I haven't seen them play this year but I am doubtful that team could have improved to a true #1 seed quality in just one year. Seeing Duke go out in Round 1, maybe the ACC just wasn't strong this year...

Go Tigers

Thanks! This is my sixth trip to the 1st/2nd rounds but first time to see the Tigers in person for it.

I am hoping that I can make another baseball regional with the Pirates hosting in Greenville.

Right on the bad matchup. Virginia allows something like 55 points a game on defense. This is the exact opposite of what Memphis wants to do and does best ... get up and down the court. I've always felt that this is why we were able to take the two regular seasons games against an elite opponent like Louisville. Sorry, I just don't see it against Virginia.
I’ve watched UVA play a couple games and for me this will come down to tempo. Memphis has a distinct athletic advantage in this game however if UVA can slow it down and keep it a half court game then it may be tough for Memphis. I think 2 keys will be if Memphis can press UVA into turnovers and playing fast then advantage Memphis. Also, if Memphis can play sold defense for 30+ seconds on each position and get stops which can lead to fast break points they should do fine.

Another disadvantage for UVA is their style doesn’t lend itself to coming back from double digit deficits. If Memphis can get up double digits midway through the second half they should be in good shape.

Memphis needs to be patient in their half court offense and avoid the quick shot or turnover out of frustration.

I’m expecting a good game.
I think it's a bad matchup for us, but we can definitely take it. Would be great to get 3 in the S16.
