Quote:Starbucks to Bring Alcohol Sales to Thousands of Stores

Starbucks will expand its evening alcohol and light bites menu, which includes bacon-wrapped dates and Malbec wine, to thousands of stores, Chief Operating Officer Troy Alstead said in a phone interview. The rollout, which can help boost sales, will take several years, he said.

“We’ve tested it long enough in enough markets -- this is a program that works,” he said. “As we bring the evening program to stores, there’s a meaningful increase in sales (SBUX:US) during that time of the day.....

The company first sold alcohol in October 2010 at a Seattle store. In January 2012, Starbucks said it was expanding the test to as many as 25 locations in Chicago, Atlanta and Southern California. In Chicago, the after-4 p.m. menu includes fare such as truffle macaroni and cheese, chicken skewers, Chardonnay and chocolate fondue.

The evening food and drinks, which are in about 40 stores now, won’t work in all Starbucks cafes, Alstead said. He said they’ve seen success in some urban areas, near other restaurants and theaters, where people are out at night.

We going to take you up the we going to take you down.
Give the customer what he wants. If you come, we will build it.
Will it be as bad and overpriced as their coffee?
Their coffee is not overpriced, and it will be awesome. I look forward to it.

$2.00 for a cup of coffee? Where do these rumors of $5.00 coffee get started?

Sure, you can pay several dollars for a specialty coffee at Starbucks, but their basic coffee in a small or regular size is in the $2.00 range. Why buy that McDonald's cr-p when you can have good coffee?

I love good coffee, drinking some Jamaican right now. Just hate Starbucks. Oh well, different strokes. But if it's only $2, then okay, that's not so bad. My mistake. Since I don't drink it, the only time I buy it is when my wife wants some skinny grande caramel chocolate frothed latte thingy that costs like $6.
I thought it was a bad idea at first....I figure the people who will avoid Starbucks because of this, probably weren't big customers before.

I think it will only be at night.

Just messing with you. I know people who think Starbucks' coffee tastes burned. It took me a bit to really like its bold taste, too. The first time I had it in an airport, I thought it was horrible. And I finally realized that they rotate the kinds of coffee they sell, too.

I just love dispelling the myth that their basic coffee is $5 or $6 a cup.
Tall iced coffee sweetened. 2 bucks (2.06 to be exact) and free refills.

Venti (20oz) coffee is $2.46 after tax. Not horrible.
anyone have problems downloading the new app?

I got mine downloaded with a little trouble but my wife could never get hers to sync up.

When I first heard of liquor I was thinking like coffee and Amaretto or Baileys, etc.

A Tall is $1.75, plus tax. What does a small McDonald's cost?
I can't believe people out there drink McDonald's coffee....I don't know if I've ever had a "good" cup there. It always ends up tasting like they used a dirty sock as a coffee filter.
