No, he is not. He was recently quoted after the Memphis game (where he sounded like he wanted to coach again) saying he had no interest in coaching again.

Jeff Goodman hates UConn and by floating this story BC gets to: a) make their job sound in any way appealing; and b) burn UConn/JC again. Folks from other parts may not realize how petty that sad little Catholic university is, but it is shocking to see up close.
ESPN and Yahoo are reporting it. I would not unilaterally dismiss it. Also, if I am not mistaken, that was not what he said last week.

Jim Calhoun doesn’t completely rule out a return

' Wrote:MEMPHIS, Tenn. >> Jim Calhoun caused a bit of a stir after insinuating during an in-game interview with ESPN’s Andy Katz Thursday night that he hasn’t ruled out a return to coaching.

On Friday, Calhoun defused the situation. Sort of.

“Andy asked me if I was going to get back into coaching,” Calhoun related. “I said, ‘No, I don’t think any way possible.’ He said, ‘What are you doing here?’ I like to follow the ball. As long as I can keep hearing it bounce, I’m going to keep following it.”

Katz asked Calhoun about Larry Brown, who at 73 has led the SMU program to a resurgence and into this year’s NCAA tournament.

“I said, ‘He’s my hero, he’s three years older, maybe I’ll follow him. Maybe I’ll be his assistant next year,’” Calhoun said. “(Katz) said, ‘So you definitely will coach?’ I said, ‘No.’ ‘You definitely won’t coach?’ I said, ‘If something great came along...’ Anything in life’s possible, I told him.”
That would be a major kick in the crotch to UConn fans. Hope it is not true.
Jesus, that would be brutal for UConn. That would be cruel for Calhoun to do. Then again, I think he's an ass, so I guess it wouldn't surprise me.

Just talked to Jim Calhoun. He said he isn't looking to get back into coaching. "I haven't talked to anybody about a job." #UConn

Calhoun: "I'm not trying to get back into basketball. I'm not seeking a job." #UConn

This is typical Goodman bs...

The only reason Calhoun would ever go to BC (which is a stretch to begin with) would be in an attempt to gain favor in getting UCONN into the ACC...
It sounds like he has no real interest. We generally know not to believe such statements, although I tend to believe him here. As the UC fans said, that would be a real kick in the crotch. I'd like to think he wouldn't take that job even if he wanted back into coaching as he knows how that would go over.
Well with Larry Brown killing it, he might want to coach again. But BC just would be AGONIZING for uconn fans.03-nutkick

You should dismiss it.

First, ESPN and Yahoo are a joke when it comes to reporting, especially this time of year - they are just looking for a shock headline. Every year it is something right about now.

Second, Jeff Goodman trolls UConn fans - hard. This has gotten to the point that he rags on our incoming recruits once they sign with UConn. For instance, after we signed Daniel Hamilton (top 20-ish recruit from LA) he said he watched him play and "had to leave the gym" he was so bad - I think he calls him a "chucker". Of course, every other reporter to see DHam thinks he is an unselfish, all-around player and he is on the Jordan All-Star team.

Third, you have to know the UConn/BC history. And not even just the institutions - specifically JC/BC to know this is a joke. He famously blasted them for being back-stabbers and vowed never to even play them again - let alone coach them.

And fourth, our local reporters have spoken to JC - TODAY - and the exact quote from our local reporter is "Not. Gonna. Happen."

But believe the ESPN sensationalism if you want. The new story (for their fledgling BC property) is BC would have "to consider" if they want JC. Really?! They have to think about a 3x champion from Boston? This is all such a joke I really can't believe this state gives ESPN so much damn money.
Doesn't Jim Calhoun have health issues???
I love how every March responsible journalism gets thrown out the window and these journalists either throw less than reliable stuff out there or publish stories they have been sitting on for months.

I just unilaterally dismissed it.
Sounds to me life he's interested in coaching again. There's a world of difference between "I'm not looking for a job" and "I will not accept any coaching job that might be offered, period".

You have to remember...CBS has the tournament, not ESPN or Yahoo. So they need a schtick to drive clicks/views to their properties and sensational stories about teams still in the tournament do that.

Very true. But it seesm Yahoo is always "breaking" something as well.

They usually wait until just before the final four.
If Calhoun wants to coach again it will most likely be his grand kids youth basketball team...
regardless of if this report is true or not.....

from my syracuse/acc perspective. this is something that needs to happen. imagine how insane the acc coaching would be?????

it would help further rekindle the BC-Cuse rivalry

politically it would give the acc another powerful voice in the north.

There is another way to get a voice in the north...
