Poor guy pays his premium in November when he signed up for Barrycare and now he looks to be screwed. Of course he has to be lying because his very own Senator, Dingy Harry said stories like these are all lies.

The hospital bills are hitting Larry Basich’s mailbox.

That would be OK if Basich had health insurance. But he doesn’t.

Thing is, he should be covered. Basich, 62, bought a plan through the state’s Nevada Health Link insurance exchange in the fall. He’s been paying monthly premiums since November.

Yet the Las Vegan is stranded in a no-man’s-land where no carrier claims him, and his tab is mounting: Basich owes $407,000 for care received in January and February, when his policy was supposed to be in effect. Instead, he’s covered only for March and beyond.

Basich has begged for weeks for help from the exchange and its contractor, Xerox. But Basich’s insurance broker said Xerox seems more interested in lawyering up and covering its hide than in working out Basich’s problems. Nor is Basich the only client facing plan-selection errors through the exchange, she added.

Poor guy. He should have read his policies more carefully and made sure he was covered.

I've changed insurance a time or two and always made sure the coverages overlapped specifically so this wouldn't happen.

He was covered, or so he thought. He bought his policy in November and had surgery in January. He even paid his premiums, but to who? no one knows.

The Nevada insurance exchange is a disaster. The top guy who runs things announced he bailing out. Consumers either can't buy insurance because the website doesn't work, or when they do they can't verify that they're covered. Lawsuits have been announced and there's even a discussion about dropping the exchange outright and going into the federal one.
Oh, and according to Harry Reid, this guy is lying.

That's how I feel about taxes, but there are ATF agents raiding gun stores that have restraining orders against it...

NY & CT are requiring gun registrations...

Christians are being forced to stamp approval on gay marriage...

Lesson: anytime you pay the government for a service, don't get your hopes up.

You're kidding, right?
We need to do Bismarck health care and be done with it. And that's on BOTH parties, neither of whom has a clue what to do.

Whether or not he was paying premiums is irrelevant. If something in his policy said coverage wouldn't start until after January then the guy is screwed.

Harry Reid Insists ObamaCare Horror Stories Are ‘Lies’
This isn't because of Obamacare.

This is because the guy was stupid and can't read.

What are we missing here? The guy signed up in November, several months before his surgery. He paid his premium and the website said he was covered. I know Obamacare will cover his pregnancy, birth control, and mammogram, but I didn't know it didn't cover bypasses.
Maybe he didn't have the benefit of guidance from a health navigator.

This isn't a Koch funded ad which Harry is referring to.

And actually, Reid's office is currently trying to help this guy get things sorted out.
I didn't even have to sign up for the ACA through an exchange, yet I knew that you were still supposed to contact your insurer to make sure you were covered on January 1 before you started incurring bills.

Geez, how about reading the damn article before you pontificate your defense for Barrycare. The question of his procedure and care being covered is not an issue. He paid in November, but his coverage didn't start until March. Geez, you libs are just too dumb to believe in your lame attempts to defend Barrycare.
