We are the biggest Louisville fans now because the more wins they have, the more money the American makes for the next 6 years. I hope (and kind of expect) them to blow through their bracket to the Final 4.
Outside of that UConn has a tough test against St Joe's....but if they win I think they can make a run through a bunch of overrated teams in Villanova, Iowa State or UNC...
Memphis actually has the talent to not only beat GW but also Virginia and hopefully set up an All-American showdown with Cincinnati in the Sweet 16, which would guarantee an American team in the Elite 8....how funny would it be if UConn made it there...to play the winner.
A win by Tulsa over UCLA doesnt help for monetary purposes, but would be great for their continued ascension of their program...and keeping momentum...if they pull off the upset, I think VCU probably takes them out with their athletes.
SMU needs to regroup and go out and make it to New York in the NIT. Won't help monetarily, but with the talent they have coming in, maybe its better for the overall program to get to keep playing games.
And finally ECU's young roster will get postseason experience in the CIT and hopefully can beat Wright State on Tuesday. They don't have the talent to win a bunch of games, unless Akeem Richmond goes for 30 every night....but its still necessary experience with some good recruits/transfers set to play right away next year.
I can see the American getting 1 Final 4 and 2 Elite 8 teams in...that would be a big success for the league IMO, even with Louisville leaving. Despite what the ACC honks on committee say, its not about the bottom of the league, its about the top.
