http://www.gazellegroup.com/events/cbi/schedule.htm I guess Houston turned down an invitation?
1 team in everytourney ... an american sweep"?
The big news is that Houston is not in the CBI. Pretty sure we could have been if we wanted to be.

Bodes in favor of a coaching change.

Your AD is probably smarter than ours and wanted to save budget for a buy-out of the coach.

Maybe the AAC has a policy against taking bids to these things?

If we were committed to extending our coach's contract, we would have supported him by going for a CBI bid. We played in it last year. We played in the Gazelle Group's preseason tourney. Our team is better than several schools hosting first round games in the CBI, including Tulane, Old Dominion and Siena.

That we apparently did not commit financially to the CBI is telling.
Should be an interesting match up this Wednesday night on the Tulane campus to see us go up against the famous Pete Carrill Princeton offense.

Cincy played in the CBI a couple years ago old Big East rules should still apply

No post season tourney is virtually a guarantee that Dickey is gone. While I would have liked to see our guys play a few more games---I see this as very good news.

If Tulane and Houston had fans you could actually make some money. We sold out a game and had some strong crowds and did make a little bit of money last year on the CIT.

These are the weakest fields I've ever seen in the CBI and CIT but I really don't get why most teams are passing up more basketball and practice. Maybe if you had won the CBI or CIT multiple times I could get it a little, but Butler played in back to back National championship games and still played an a CBI the year after.

Maybe if you are a boarder line blue blood top 10 program like Indiana it would do little for you but Houston and Tulane? Come on. If either of you guys would have won 5 games in the CBI I think that would have certainly have benefited your programs. We've already won the CIT but I'm still glad we are playing in it again. We had a shatastic season and I look at it as a good opportunity to put some lipstick on our pig and get some practice for out team.
Tulane is in the CBI, SJ. As for Houston, you know the reason.

In 2007 I think. And it was such a mess and run so poorly that Cronin said before the game they would never play in one again. It's run like a high school summer league that you have to pay to be a part of.

I believe the CBI and CIT are pay to play tournaments. It may also trigger an extension or bonus clause in a coaches contract for post season play.
Houston doesn't/won't pay for a basketball coach. They will be stuck on the James Dickey Year 5 Swan Song Tour
hard to get excited for this. we'll lose 1st round

Based purely on talent/coaching, yes. And let's face it, "talent" + "coaching" covers most of the bases in a situation like this. But keep in mind this is basically an exhibition. No wait, I take that back. It is an exhibition, period. You never know what a team's motivation will be like. You can't be sure if one team may put greater emphasis on giving freshmen or other untested players (or players who are recovering from injury) a larger role than the other team. So let's wait and see. The game is Wednesday night so there won't be long to find out.
Love to see UL-L posters come on this board and see one of the top academic universities in the Nation Princeton with Harvard,Yale and MIT play the Tulane, the top academic university in Louisiana and the Gulf South against the Pete Carrill offense. Roll Wave

Im hoping passing on a post season tournament is simply to get a jump start on the search for a new coach.

You have a sick obsession. Tulane is a great school but it is not in the breath as the ones you mention. But I am glad you get to talk academic smack on a sports forum.
